The Board of Trustees of the city of Lynwood met in adjourned
regular session at the City Hall 205 hest Mulford Ave Thursday August
21 1924 at 7:30 pm.
The minutes of the meeting of ~~~ugust 20 were read and approved
as read
Unf Bus Trustee Gordy reported the result of t?~e committee investiga-
tion regarding the condition of the well being drilled. Stating that the
casing was stuck and advising that the City furnish a crew of men to as-
sist in loosening same. A motion by `T'rustee Tweedy, seconded by Trustee
Reed, that the City supply this crew, was carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Gordy Tweedy Reed Anderson
Noes: None
Absent: Trustee Downey
The Chair appointed Trustee Tweedy to act with Trustees Gordy
and Reed as the committee in charge of well-drilling operations
Mr Cogswell and Mr Norris again appeared before the Board and
asked that petitions be furnished them petitioning for the opening of
Golden Ave to Euclid Ave, also that a 50-ft street be opened from the
old boundary line of the City to Golden Ave in Bloek 13, and a 50-ft
street be opened in Block 14 from the old boundary line to Belle-Vernon
Blvd. Also that petitions be prepared asking for street improvement on
Carlin Ave to consist of side-wal'_~, curb, gutter and 4-in oil macadam,
and for side-walks, curbs, and gutters on Burton Ave. The Clerk was in-
structed to prepare same.
8 new Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance of the Board of Trus-
tees of the City of Lynwood, Cal., fixing the amount of money necessary
to be raised by taxation upon the taxable property therein as a revenue
to carry on the various departments and pay t~,e bonded indebtedness of
said City of Lynwood for the current year 1924-1925," was read for the
second time; and on motion made and seconded was declared read for the
second time and taken up for third reading and final passage. 'Nhere-
upon said Ordinance was read for the third and las~rttime and placed on
final passage. On motion by Trustee Gordy, cor~,de~~by Trustee Tweedy,
said Ordinance being Ordinance No 44 of the City of Lynwood, was passed
by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Gordy Tweedy Reed Andersom
Noes: None
Absent: Trustee Downey
A Resolution offered by 'T'rustee Gordy entitled "A Resolution
of the Board of Trustees of the City of Lynwood, Cal., fixing the rate
of taxation for said City of Lynwood for the current year 1924-1925,"
was read. On motion by Trustee Gordy, seconded by Trustee Tweedy, said
Resolution being Resolution No 209 of the City of Lynwood, was adopted
by the following vote
Ayes: Trustees Gordy Tweedy Reed Anderson
Noes: None
Absent: Trustee Downey
The matter of purchasing an addressing machine for the water
department was taken up. A motion by Trustee Gordy seconded by Trustee
Reed that the City purchase same, was carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Gordy Tweedy Reed Anderson
Noes: None
Absent: Trustee Downey
The committee on garbage collection was given full power to
act in this matter.
The following demand was audited:
General Fund
No n60 G ~"J Rice deed cutting on lots .x'355.00
A motion by Trustee Gordy, seconded by Trustee Reed, that
the above demand be allowed and warrant ordered drawn for same was
carried by the following vote
Ayes: Trustees Gordy Tweedy Reed Anderson
Noes: None
Absent: Trustee Downey
On motion Board adjourned to meet ?Paednesday, August 27, 1924,
at the usual time and place
