Present: Trustees Downey Gordy Tweedy Reed Anderson Absent: None President Anderson in the Chair, Cler;~ present i±`trit Coms A con;~munication from the P F. Ry Co regarding lease of certain por- '""' tions of their right-of-way was read and referred to Trustee Downey. Coms Rep `T'rustee Gordy, Vtater Commissioner, reported that the new well was completed, and asked that the Roard purchase pump and engine for same. A motion was made and carried that the well committee investigate differ- ent kinds of equipment and report at the next meeting. Unf bus Trustee Reed made a motion that all cases involving the violation of the fire limits building ordinance of the City of Lynwood, which are now pending and undetermined at the Recorder's Court of Lynwood, be im- mediately set for trial and disposed of. Said motion upon being second- ed by Trustee Downey, was passed by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Downey Gordy Tweedy Feed Anderson ilaes : None Absent : None Cn motion made and seconded the Board proceeded to canvass the re- turns of the Special Annexation Election held in the territory known and designated as "Addition No 7 to the City of Lynwood," on Saturday, the 6th day of Sept. 1924. After completing the same the result was declare to be as follows: The whole number of votes cast was found to be Six (6; the proposition voted on was whether the said described territory should be annexed to the City of Lynwood. It was found. and declared that there were Four (4) votes in favor of said proposition and Two (2) votes again: the same. ',thereupon an Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance of the Board of Trustees of the City of Lynwood, Cal., approving the Annexation to the said City of Lynwood of 'Add itien No 7'," was read, and on motion made ..~. and seconded said Crdinance was declared read for the first time and take up for second reading. t~fter readir!.g said Ordinance for the second time a motion was made. seconded and carried that said Ordinance be declared - read for the second time and laid over for third reading and final passa~ This 'going the time and glace set for the receiving of sealed bids or proposals for the work of improvement as contemplated by Resolution of iffitention No 202, the Clerk announced that certain bids were on file. ';thereupon a motion by Trustee Tweedy, seconded bT,~ Trustee Gordy, that the Clerk open, examine and publiclS* declare all bids on file, was carried by 'the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Downey Gordy Tweedy Reed Andersen PJoes : None ~~bsent : None The Clerk opened, examined and publicly declared bids from the fol~ lowing persond and firms : Huhn Lros , 0 ?T 'trtiracle and Nall-Johnson Co . Cn motion made and carried bids were referred to the City rhgr for roc- ' commendation. New Bus Trustee Reed spaking on parking on Long Beach T~lvd in the business section, expressed himself as favoring the idea of parallel parking and asked far expressions from the other memi~ers of the Board. After dis- cussing the matter it was decided that the City ~~arshal be instructed to establish ?parallel parking in the business district. .~;: Trustee .Reed spoke on the necessity of so.dewalks being construct ed along the east side of Eelle-Vernon Blvd to Mod,ieska Blvd far the ac- commodation of school childrer_, stating that during rainy weather under "'-' the present Bonditions it was necessary for children to go to school by j way of Alameda Street. This matter was referred to the Street Commission er, with a request that a report be made at the next meeting. . Petitions asking for street imp.rovernent on West. ~'u.clid Ave, `tUest Lynwood Road and ~"test Louise St were referred to the City Engr to draw Resolution of Intention. A certified petition signed by voters residing in the territory described in said petition, said territory being contiguous to the City of Lynwood on the south, asking that the question of annexing to the ~ai~ City of Lynwood be submitted to the electors residing in the said terri- tory, eras presented to the Board, tinJhereupon a resolution offered by Trustee Downey entitled "A Resolution of the Board of Trustees of the City of Lynwood, Cal., regarding annexation petitio~i," was read. Cn motion made and seconded said Resolutionbeing Resolution No 213 of the City of I,~Tnwced, was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: 'T'rustees Ded~ney Gordy Tweedy Reed Anderson Noes : ddone Absent : None The bids for the work of improvement as contemplated under Reso- lution of Intention No 202 having been returned to the Eoard by the City ""~"" Engr with the statement that the bid of Hall-Johnson Co was the lowest and recommending that the said Co be awarded the contract A Resolution entitled "A Resolution of award of contract for the improvement of Frank- lin Street, Penn Street, ~x~iley Street, Grant Street, Bull is Street, t~lamo Court, and portions of Alameda Street, the Plorth Roadway of Fernwood Ave- nue and Bellinger Street in the City of Lynwood, California," vras read.
