Meeting of Board Sept 17 1924
The Foard of Trustees of the City of Lynwood met, in regular ses-
sion at the City Hail. 205 ~~'!est ~;ulford Eve `T4ednesday Se^t 17 1924 at
7:30 Piyi.
Present: Trustees Gordy Tweedy Reed Anderson
Absent : `['rustee Doti^mey

The minutes of the meeting of Sept 15 were read and approved.
4'lrit Coms Two petitions protesting against the condemnation cf portions o~
certain lots for the opening of an alley in the rear of lots fronting oz
Long Bead Blvd between Peechwood t~ve and Tweed-r-Abbott Road were read
and laid over to a date to be set `rdednesday ``Oct T " for the hearing of
protests concerning this work.
Rent Gomr 'T'rustee Tweedy spoke on garbage collection, stating that he had
made arrangements with A L Stevens to establish a collection route. Mr
Stevens said that he was finding considerable opposition due to the
general opinion that the City had no Ordinance covering garbage collec-
tion, a.rad asked. that not~.ce be given of same by publication. ~~ motion b;
Trustee Gordy, seconded by Trustee Reed, that a notice requiring; the
proper disposition of garbage be published in the Lynwood Tribune, was
carried by the following; vote
Ayes: Trustees Gordy Tweedy Reed Andersen
Noes: None
Absent: Trustee Downed
A communication. from D~ J L T'omeroy, County Health Officer of
the Health Dept of the County of Las Angeles, regarding the work done
for municipalities by this department, way read. `T'his matter vras referr~
to the Health CoTrmissicner..
Unf bus Contracts covering; t.'ne lighting of. Long Beach Blvd were offered
to the Baard by ti~ae Edison Co . Said - c,cntracts specified 23 600 candle-
power lights~at x'4.41 pei~ month to be illuminated from 30 minutes after
sun-set to 30 minutes before sun-rise. Contract to cover a period of 5
years. A motion bar Trustee Reed, seconded by Trustee Gordy, that the
City accept this contract and that the Presi.den.t of the Board be author
ized to sign same in the narr.~e of the City, was carried by the following
vote:
Ayes: Trustees Cordy Tweedy Reed Anderson
Noes: None
Absent: Trustee Downey
New bus Trustee Reed spoke on the necessity of police protection for
cr~ildren crossing the street at Beechwoad Ave and Long Feach Intersecti~
going t,o school at the kindergarden a~Z the church. The Police Co~r~niss-
ioner stated that this would be furnished.
