CJ The Board of Trustees of the City of Lynwood met in regular session at the City Hall 205 West Mulford Ave ~'dednesday Nov 5 1924 at 7:30 gym. Present: Trustees Downey Gordy Tweedy Reed Anderson Absent: None The minutes of the meetings of Oct 29 and Oct 31 were read anc approved as read tlnf bus The hearing of protests for the public improvement as contem- plated under Ordinance No 43 having been continued to this date, the same was taken up. W E Ruckan of Long Eeaeh representing the owner of Lots 36-37 Block 20 explained that the owner was ~'inanciallq embarrassE and needed speedy action but did not wish to protest otherwise. A motic by Trustee Reed seconded by Trustee Gordy that all protests be overrulE was carried by the following vote Ayes: Trustees Downey Gordy Tweedy Reed Anderson Noes: None Absent: None A new Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance of the Board of TrusteE of the City of Lynwood ordering the opening, widening and extending of certain streets and alleys in the City of Lynwood, California, in the manner contemplated by Crdinance No 43 of said City," was read. a mot it bit Tr~atee Downey seconded by Trustee Tweedy that said Ordinance be de• Glared read for the first time and laid over for second reading, was carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Downey Gordy Tweedy Reed Anderson Noes: None Absent: None This being the time and place seit for the hearing of protests against the ~-ork~of~ irnpr~ovemEnt`'and°~the district to be assessed to pay the costs and expenses of said improvement as contemplated under Reso- lution of Intention No 222, the Clerk announced that no protests were on file. Whereupon the President inquired if any persons present desire to be heard, and no person responding, a Resolution entitled "'A Resolu~ tion of the Board of Trustees of the City of Lynwood ordering the im- provement of portions of Lynwood Road, Louise Street, Burton Avenue, E1 clid Avenue, Belle Vernon Boulevard and Long Beach Boulevard (sometime. known as Bella Vernon Boulevard), in the Gity of Lynwood, California," was read. On motion made and seconded said Resolution being Resolution No 231 of the City of Lynwood, was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Doamey Gordy Tweedy Reed Anderson Noes: None Absent: None This being the time and place set for the receiving of sealed bids or proposals for the work of improvement as contemplated by Reso h tion of Intention No 217, the Clerk announced that certain bids were o~ file. A motion by Trustee Downey seconded by Trustee Gordy that ~~1 big b~ opened, examined and publicly declared, was carried. Whereupon the Clerk opened and read bids from the following persons: Kuhn Bros, 0 U P~iiracie, J D Phillips and Hall~%~ohnson Co. These were referred to the City Engr for recommendation. The matter of a certain lease covering a portion of the So Pay Ry Co's right-of-way at the west end of North Fernwood Ave having been referred to the City Atty. Th® City Atty returned same to the Board wi~ the recommendation that same be accepted. Whereupon on motion duly mad. and seconded it was resolved that the City of Lynwood do accept the of: of the Southern Pacific R R Co of a railway crossing easement at the<-. intersection of the southerly line of that portion of Fern rood Ave whip lies northerly of the northerly line of the Pacific Electric Rq Co's 100 foot right-of-way with the easterly right -of-way line of the South 61"ffi Pacif ie R R Co's San Pedro branch; and the President of the Board of Truste®s of the City of Lynwood and the Clerk of the Board are di- rected to execute, in the name of the City of Lynwood, the indenture o: Deed of Easement between the said R R Co and said City of Lynwood, whip Indenture of Deed of Easement is hereby approved, New Bus A Resolution entitled "A Resolution of the Board of Trustees of the City of Lynwood, Cal., transferring the sum of Twenty-five Hun- dred Dollars (2500.QQ) from the Clark's Street Improvement fund to the General Fund od said City,"was read. On motion made and seconded said Resolution being Resolution No 232 cf the City of Lynwood, was adopted by the following vote: Ages: Trustees Downey Gordy Tweedy Reed Anderson Noes: None Absent: None f ~9~- The Board having under contemplation certain public work of improvement a new Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance declaring the in- tention of the Board of Trustees of the City of Lynwood to order the opening, widening and extending of certain streets and avenues in said City of Lynwood, 2 was read, A moticn by Trustee Tweedy seconded by Trustee Gordy that said Ordinance be declared read for the first time and laid over for second reading, was carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Downey Gordy Tweedy Reed Anderson Noes: None Absent: None Unf Bus The City Engr having returned the bids referred to him with the statement that the bid of Hall-Johnson Co was the lowest and re- commended that the contract be awarded said Company, a Resolution en- titled rrA Resolution of award of contract for the improvement of And- erson Avenue and Osgood Avenue, in the City of Lynwood, California," was read.
