Fresent: Trustees Downey Gordy Tweedy Reed Anderson Absent: None l9~~ The minutes of the meeting of Nov 5^were read and approved as read Unf bus This being the time and place set for the hearing of protests '~"' on the ~rbrk of improvement or the district to be assessed to pay the a expenses of said improvement as contemplated under Resolution of Inten- -- tion No 229, the Clerk arnnounced that no protests were on file. `vYhere- upon the President inquired if any persons present desired to be heard, Mr A Seufert responded stating that the~snb~dviders'~had a~reed'to do certain street improvement and asked what effect the contemplated work of improvement would have on this agreement. Trustee Downey, one of the sub-dividers explained. Ido other protests appearing a motion by Trustee Downey seconded by Trustee Tweedy that all protests be over-ruled was carried. A Resolution entitled "A Resolution of the Eoard of Trustees of the City of Lynwood ordering the improvement of portions of Josephine Street, Virginia Street, Agnes Street, Esther Street, and the first alley , southerly of Lynwood Road, in the City of Lynwood, California," was read. On motion by Trustee Gordy seconded by Trustee Tweedy said Resolution being Resolution No 234 of the City of Lynwood, was adopted by the fol- lowing vote: Ayes: Trustees Downey Gordy Tweedy Reed Anderson Noes: None Absent: Tdone A Reso hit ion entitled "~1 Resolution of the Board of Trustees of the City of Lynwood adopting a map showing the district to be assessed for certain improvements to be made in the City of I,ynvrood," was read. On motion by Trustee Downey seconded by Trustee Gordy said Resolution being Resolution No 235 of the City of Lynwood, was adopted by the fol- ••• lowing vote: Ayes: Trustees Downey Gordy Tweedy Reed Anderson ~_ rTO e s : None Absent: None ~"~ new Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance dCClaring the intention of the Board of Trustees of the City of Lynwood to order the opening, widening and extending of certain streets and avenues in said City of Lynwood," was read. A motion by Trustee Gordy seconded by Trustee Tweedy that said Ordinance be declared read for the second time and laid over for third reading and final passage, was carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Downey Gordy Tweedy Reed Anderson Noes: None ~,, Absent: None , A new Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance of the Board of Trustees of the City of Lynwood ordering the opening, widening and extending o~ certain streets and alle~Ts in the City of Lynwood, California, in the manner contemplated by Ordinance No 43 of said City," was read. A motion by Trustee Downey seconded by Trus- tee Tweedy that all applications be referred to a Committee of the whole, to be taken up at the next meeting, was carried. New bus After a general discussion regarding the need, of fire-fighting equipment the President appointed Trustees Downey Tweedy Reed as a committee to investigate and report on this matter. A motion was made and carried that the City Fxigr be asked to submit~~°°=f gores regarding the cost of a map of the City ~~ Bd.ll s ~~r it .,,' The proposition of deciding on a name for the street now know: as Mod~eska Ave, Anderson St and Be1lepVernon Ave, was discussed. Mr Cogswell spoke on sanitation conditions in the southwest part of the City. A motion by Trustee Downey seconded by Trustee Tweedy that th demand of The Economy Store for 5 for the rent of dishes be allowed and warrant ordered drawn for same, was carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Downey Gordy Tweedy Reed Anderson Noes: None Absent: None coma A petition si~~n.ed by 6B5 residents of Lynwood asking that E IvI Z'r~~f itz be re-instated as City R~arshal at the same salary he was re- ceiving when the office was declared vacant, was read. A motion by Trustee Tweedy that action betaken at once on the above petition, re- ceiving no second,was lost. A motion by Trustee Downey seconded by Trustee Gordy that th.e petition be filed, was carried. The following persons addressed the Board asking that Mr Erkfitz be re-instated at once or that specific charges be brought azainst him: Chas S ~~Joods B ~reen~ood, Mr Lawrence, Mr Leonard, Mr Sevey. Mr Goodwin, '~ j,~ Clary, Chas Drinkwater, stir Morrell, P+ir Soe~vell ~~r ~11~~?ze~.1. Mr Ehfe protested said re-instatement stating that R4r Erkfitz while employed as Ct~ty P,~arshal had caused him to lose approximately ~4 in certain concrete construction. Trustee Downey stated that Mr Erkfitz was charged with insubordination. A motion by Trustee Tweedy that E RR Erkfitz be re- instated as City b~arshal receiving no second was lost.
