Present: trustees Dcwrley Gordy Tweedy Reed r'lnderson absent : I1one President Anderson in tine Chair. Clerk present The minutes of the ~a1l~meeting of Dec 10 were read and approved as read. Writ Ct~ms A draft of the Constitution and Fay-laws for the proposed volun- teer fire dez~artment was presented and referred to the City Atty to pass on same. A communication was read from C G Secrest asking that the build- ing permit .for the construction of a residence on Lot 87, Tract 2551, which was revolted Nov 26 be reissued. A11 objections ta~, the construction of the structure having been withdrawn, the Building Inspector was in- structed to re-issue the x~ermit as requested, A communication was read from C l~V Le~r~is protesting against Offi- cer Frkfitz attempting to make a debt collection against him. This matte was referred to the ?'olice Commissioner Oral Coms Atty V E Bowser, representing J J Cans, addressed the Board ex- plaining the mechanism and legality of certain vending machines, and asked that a City license be issued for same, The City Atty expressed himself as being satisfied that said machines were not a violation of the State Gambling Laws. Trustee Downey protested the issuance of a Citv license for the operation of these machines. a motion bsT Trustee Gordy . seconded by Trustee Tweedy that City licenses be issued covering the tTrpe of machine explained by Mr Bowser, was carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Gordy Tweedy Reed Gunderson Noes: Trustee Downey absent: None Spl Comt. Tn th~~ matter of the request by D Ehfe for a refund of ~ 4.50 claiming that he was put to that, much additional expense by former City „~, l~~arshal E'rkfitz, the City Atty stated that the City had no responsibi- lity in the matter, and could not legally rei'und same Unf Bus Certain petitions asking for the recall of Trustees Downey Reed and Anderson having begin referred to the Clerk for certification these were returned to the B and with proper certifications attached. After examining same, and discussing certain irregularities that might invali- date the election, a motion bybTrustee Gordy seconded by Trustee Reed that the President appoint a committee to consult the County Counsel in regard to same, was carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Downey Gordy Tweedy Reed Anderson Roes: None Absent: None The President appointed Trustees Lowney Gordy and Reed as such . committee. Said committee to report T'rzesday Dec 23, 1924. The matter of awarding the contract for tale work. of improvement as contemplated under Resolution of Intention No 229 having been laid over to this date this was novv taken ur, I•Ir Amann, representative of the J H Ellison Co having been called awati* an account of sickness, the said Company had no representative present. After discussing this matter a motion by Trustee I`owney seconded bZ- Trustee Gordy that all bids be rejected and that the City Clerk be instructed to advertise in 'Ehe Lyn- wood Tribune for sealed bids, or proposals, for doing the work of im- provement as specified under Resolution of Intention No 229, was carried r~. by the following vote: Ayes : Trustees Downey Gordy Tweed-r Need Gtr~derson "'-' Iv'oes : None Absent.: None ,_ ,~.Ir Cogswell spoke protesting t?~e sanitary condition of a dairy in the southwest part of the City.
