Present: Trustees Hotz Anderson S Absent: P?one Citzr ~ttty and Clerk present The minutes of the meetinP; of Feb of Lynwood met in regular 4`dednesday Mch 4 1925 at 7:30 herer Tweedy Schouten. 18 were read and approved as read ~~rrit Coms The resignation of J E Tischer as Citv `T'reasurer was read, &; motion was made and carried that the same be received and filed. Oral Coms R P Howard, representing the Eureka Fire Hose Co, spoke on £ire hose, stressing the necessity of plenty of the same, and offered to sup- ply the City on liberal terms Spl Coms Fire Commissioner Hotz reported that the fire engine was at pre sent housed in I~r Bag~ott' s garage, but that that was only temporary for the reason that tdir Baggott' s had rented garage Safety Commissioner Tweedy presented a communication from the P E Co stating that an automatic flagman would be installed at the Mod- ~eska Park crossing Unf Bus The City Atty recommended that the condemriat~an proceedings be- ing taken under the Act of 1903 be abandoned, and that same be institute under the Act of 189. Af~~r an explanation of the difference between th above .mentioned Acts by the City Atty and City End, A motion by Trustee Anderson seconded by 'Trustee Sherer that the City Atty and City Engr be instructed to draw an Ordinance annulling and setting aside the condemna tion proceedings already started, and that the same be taken under the Act of 1889 , was carried by the following, vote Ayes: Trustees Hotz Anderson Sherer Tweedy Schouten t Noes: None Ab-sent: Done Chas Drinkcvater addressed the Board regarding the Lynwood Light ing District, stating that the funds for maintaining same would be ex- .- hausted about April 5th. A motion was made and carried that same be con- : timed, and that expense be taken from the Street Improvement Fund until the formation of a new lighting district. A new Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance repealing Section 3 of Ordinance No 31, and amending Ordinance No 31 by adding thereto a new Section tQ be known as'Section 3';" was read for the second time. A m0- tion by Trustee Sherer seconded by Trustee Hotz that the same be deelare~ read for the second time and laid over for third reading and final pas- sage, was carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Hotz Anderson Sherer Schouten Noes: Trustee Tweedy Absent: None A new Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance of the City of Lynwood declaring that certain services to be performed by the City Attorney are Extra and additional to his usual services, and fixing the extra compen- sation to be paid him therefor," was read for the second time. A motion by Trustee Hotz seconded by Trustee Sherer that the same be declared read for the second time and laid over for third reading and final pas- sage, was carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Hotz Anderson Sherer Schouten Noes: Trustee Tweedy Absent: None NarQ Busi The monthly reports of the V~ater and City Clerks were read and accepted A new Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance of the Board of Trustees '"-' of the City of L?mwood, Cal., repealing and annulling Ordinance No 34 of the City of Lynwood," was read for the first time. ~nmotion made and carried same was declared read for the first time and laid over for seco~ reading; A Resolution offered by Trustee Anderson entitled "A Resolution of the Board of 7:'rustees of the City of Lynwood, Cal. , transferring the sum of One Thousand Dollars 01000.00) from the Water Fund to the Clerk'. Street Improvement Fund of said City," was read. A motion by Trustee Hot; seconded by Trustee Anderson that the same be adopted, was carried by thi following vote: Ayes: Trustees Hotz Anderson Sherer Tweedy Schouten Noes: None Absent: None Trustee Sherer spoke on the proposition of re-numbering all buildings iri the City in accordance with County specifications, exnlain- -~~ ing the advantages of so doin?, and made a motion that the Gity Engineer be instructed and authorized to have a map compiled shaaing house numbers in accordance therewith, ~h an expense not exceeding x'175. Said motion upon being seconded by Trustee Hotz, was carried by the following vote: Ayes: 't'rustees Hotz Anderson Sherer Tweedy Schouten I1oes : None Absent: None _~ -.;. ~..~. ',:::~. .~ Per Althouse stated that the above mentioned map would be submitted to the Board for approval Fire Commissioner Hotz spoke on the necessity of building a fire engine house and jail, and asked that same be done. Trustee Anderson rec-'~"' ommended that a committee be appointed to handle this matter. A motion 'oy Trustee Sherer seconded by Trustee Anderson that the President appoint a committee, and that said committee be authorized to start the construc- tion of afire house and ,jail, and to incur an indebtedness not exceed- ing X299 in connection therewith, was carried by t e following vote Ayes : Trustees Hotz Anderson Sherer a6.-~'u~.. Noes: Trustee Tweedy Absent: None I'he President appointed Trustees Hotz Sherer Anderson as such com- mittee Unf Busi Chas Drinkwater, as Chairman of the committee appointed to formu- late plans for a lighting district to comprise the whole Citq, made the following report: To the Honorable Board of Trustees of the City of Lynwood: ive, a committee appointed bT,r the Lynwood Board of Trustees, some 4 to 5 months since, to canvass the City and spot lamps far the purpose of street illumination, desire to report we have completed our work and respectfully recommend as follows: That the entire residential portion be lighted by lamps of a 250 CP, and be spaced apart distances of approximately 300 ft. That an ex- ception to the 250 CP lamp be made in favor of 2 600 CP lamps at the in- tersection of RZodjeska Blvd and the P E right-of-way; also the wester- most lamp or_ Fernwood Ave which will care for the intersection of this thoroughfare and the S P crossing at Alameda St. -- That the Long Beach Blvd be lighted as at present with 600 C P lamps, adding an additional 3 lights to the 23 now in operation. The expense of said Lrmwood street lighting system to be met by ~k the creation of a lighting district, by due legal precedure. The appro~timate liberal estimate of the tax necessary to meet the yearly expenditure is 7 cts per front foot of property, th.~s esti- mate based upon 27 miles of streets within the City.
