The Board of ~i~'rustees of the Citzr of L,vnwood met in adiourned
regular session at the City- Hall 205 `~' r~ulford Ave Z~Jednesday April 8,
Present: Trustees Hotz Anderson Sherer Tweed`T Schouten
Absent: None
President Schouten in the Chair. City Catty and Clerk present
`l'he minutes of the meeting of April 1 1.925 were read and ap-
proved
Coms A communication from A ~' `1'hornas asking that action be taken in
the matter of the condemnation of a certain struct,tire claimed to be a
nuisance and fire menace of_ lots 35 and 36 block 22, was read and refer-
red to the City Atty for retort .
Coms I:2r Scrimsher called the attention of the Board to ]_ack of drain-
age at ir~terseetion of 'r~.c]_id Cwe and Belle-Vernon Cave. This was referred
to the CityT mgr
Courts "Jester Commissicner Anderson reported that his department contem-
plated taking up a certain iir.used, and unnecessary, 3" wooden pine line
on Virginia St in tract 6554, and stated that he thought the same could
be dispcsed of to the advantage of the City.
President Schouten, as Commissioner of F'inar~ce, reported that
he had made partial arra~xgements for an audit of the City accounts, 'put
that same would not be done for several weeks
Bus This being; the time and place set for the receiving of sealed
bids, or proposals, for the work of improvement as contemplated under
Resolution of Intention Ido 229, the Clerk reported that certain bids
were on file. On motion made and carried the Clerk was instructed to
oven, examine and publicly declare all bids on file for this work, where-
upon the Clerk opened, examined and publicly declared bids from the fol-
lowing~ persons : carry T Brown, Frank p flROSher, Chas R 'TJest, The FrzT Bros
Contracting; Co, F' C Paton, Sorensen ??c rJiclleal, Harry F Hi11, "?Sill ~' Peck,
Chalmers & Ford, R ~,^J Sallee and C L Robinson. Or. motion. made and carried
~~11 bids were referred to the Cit~r >~g~r for recommendation.
A new Ordinance entitled "An Ord.inar.ce of the Board of 7.'rustees
of the Cit~r of Lsmwood, Cal. , annulling certain sections of Crdinance Zoo
51," was read for the second time. A motion bar Trustee Sherer seconded ,by
Trustee Hotz that said. Ordinance be declared read for the second time
and laid over for third reading'. and final passage, r^ras carried bar the
following vote:

Absent: None
The Board having in contemplation the purchase of certain lots
for the purpose of maintaining a material yard thereon, a Resolution en-
titled "Resolution of the T3oard of `T'rustees of the Cit~T of Lynwood de-
claring that public necessity and convenience requires the acquisition
of certain real propert.~r for street improvement purx~oses, directing the
President of the Board of Trustees to take such steps as may be necess-
ary, and authorizing the payment of the purchase price of said real prop-
erty out of the Street Improvement F'und," was read. Cn motion by Trustee
Sherer seconded by Trustee Anderson said Resolution being Resolution No
246 was adopted bar the following vote:

A Resolution entitled "Resolution of the Board of Trustees of
the CitTr of r,~mwood, California, declaring their intention to order the
laying out, opening, extending and widening of certain streets, aver_ues,
highways, alleys ar_d other public places in the City of Lynwood, and
abandoning; all proceedings heretofore taken pursuant to City Ordinances
Numbered 30, 43 and 46," was read. On motion b~T Trustee .?nderson secor_d-
ed by Trustee Ifotz said IZeso)_ution being Resolution of Intention No 247

The Board realizing the necessity and convenience of the City
P~Rarshal assluning the duties of a Deputy Sheriff, the following; Resolu-
tion arras Offered: !'resolution of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Lynwood requesting the County Board of Supervisors and the County Sher-
iff' to call in the Deputy Sheriff's badge heretofore given to former
City r.4arshal Irkfitz, and. that the present. City marshal Johnson be ap-
pointed a Deputy Sheriff." On motion by Trustee Ilotz seconded by Trus-
tee Sherer said Resolution. being Resolution No 24~s was adox?ted by the
following vote:

'police Commissioner 1{otz r°eported that tY~ere was uncertainty
in regard to when certain cells could be obtained for the ,jail under
contemplation, and stated tYiat if same could not be obtained within a
reasonable length of time that they would be dispensed with and the
fail constructed under a different plan.
The following demands were audited:

A motion bar Trustee Anderson seconded by `Trustee Hotz that
the above demands be allowed and warrants ordered drawn for same, was
carried by the following vote:

Bus T~4r L H Piles, representing the BR.cTi Siren, explained the mec-
hanism and volume of different sirens, and offered the use of a fire-
alarm siren on tr~.al. The same was accepted with thanks
bus The bids for the work of imx~rovement under Resolution of In-
tention No 229 having been returned to the Board with the statement
that the bid of Harry T Brown was the lowest, and the recommendation
that t?~e same be accepted and contract awarded accordingly. A Resolu-
tion entitled 'TA Resolution of Award of Contract for the improvement
of portions of Josephine Street, Virginia Street, Agnes Street, Esther
Street, and the first Alley southerl~t of Lynwood Road, in the City of
Lynwood, California,!' was read. On motion by Trustee Anderson seconded
by Trustee Tweedy said Resolution being Resolution No 249 was adopted
by the following vote:

Absent: None
