President Downey in the Chair The minutes oP the meeting of duly 22 were read and approved as read., ''mow Writ Coms A communication was read from the section Foreman of the So Pac Ry asking that further dumping of rubbish at the intersection of Fern- wood Ave and the S P crossing be not allowed, and offering co-operation in preventing same. This was referred to the St Commissioner. A statement by the Frank J Kimball Co specifying that the No 3 grease now being used to lubricate the pump at Plant No 1 would proper- ly lubricate same if used as recommended, was read. Water Commissioner Gordy explained that considerable trouble had been experienced in sec- uring a grease that would properly lubricate this pump, but stated that the No 3 grease above mentioned appeared to be satisfactory. And that plant was working nicely. A petition signed by Sixty-six purported owners of property on Long Beach Blvd, protesting against further proceedings in connection with the proposed installation of a lighting system on said Boulevard, and asking that said procedings be abandoned, was read. A motion by Trustee Gordy seconded by Trustee Reed that said petition be received and s'i1ed, was carried. Ural Coms A B Gray stated that there was sand and grease in the water and wanted to know why. The Water Commissioner explained. Dr Bell complained about noise at the corner of Sessions and ~~iul- ford caused by ,young people. The President referred this matter to the City Marshal. L C knderson protested the erection of a sign on the vacant lot known as lot 500 tract 2551, asking that same be placed back 30 feet .- from the front line of said lot. This evidently constituting afire • menace the matter was referred to the City Attorney for advis®. The City Attorney advised that the Me~ghal be instructed to stop further construction of said sign, and that the city Attorney be instructed to draw an Ordinance covering the erection of signs, and providing in said Ordinance for the securing of a permit and license before begin- ning the erection of same. A motion was made and carried that the City Marshal and City Attorney be so instructed.- Mr S A Scrimaher asked about the condemnation proceedings afi'ectin the territory in the southwest part of town. The President explained that the matter had been held up temporarily on account of certain new legislation, but promised action soon. Dr Bell stated that large dro#es of mosquitos had recently in- vaded his locality, and asked rur relief. This was referred to the Health Commissioner. Mr P Ragas stated that the Union Rock Cols trucks were damaging W Euclid Ave, and asked that heavy trucking be prohibited on this street. A motion was made and carried that the Street Supt be instruct- ed to erect signs prohibiting heavy trucking on W Euclid Ave.- Spl Coms Trustee Reed reporting for the .committee appointed to investigate the bill of former City Engineer E M Lynch, reported that a discount of X400 had been secured, and recommended that the same be allowed in the sum of X2382.50. A motion was made and carried that said report be accepted and committee discharged. Unf Bus A motion was made and carried that the hearing on Resolution of ~'"- Intention No 245 be continued. A communication regarding the meeting of the League of California Municipalities at Long tseach beginning Sept 28th, was read and filed. The'rduties of the Treasurer's office having become so heavy that the Board deemed it necessary tb~fiaintain full office hours, and City Treasurer Tischer having filed his resignation on March 4 1925, the President stated that he had communicated with Mr Tischer and that he had expressed himself as being anxious to be relieved of the duties of City Treasurer. The President further stated that while Mr Tischer's services had been ~atsf~~tory'he-':considered it an imposition to ask Haim to continue to perform the duties at the-small compensation of X10 per month as specified by Ordinance, and that~_tHe people of Lynwood owed their thanks and appreciation to Mr Tischer for his faithful ser- vices. A motion by Trustee Reed seconded by Trustee Gordy that the re- signation of City Treasurer Tischer be accepted to take effect at once, was carried. ~ : x_. -. Schutz be appointed to fill the office of City Treasurer a1ad~~ va~a~zt by the°resignation of J E Tischer, said appointment to be for the unexpired term, was carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Tweedy Gordy Reed Downey Noes: None Absent: Trustee Hutchinson Mr Schutz being present the Clerk administered the oath of off ice . On motion made and carried the City Attorney was instructed to draw an amending Ordinance fixing the bond of the City Treasurer. Blackwell Reed & Co having completed the audit of the @Vater Fund, General Fund and Clerk's Street Improvement Fund, and filed re- port covering same, a motion was made and carried that said report be accepted. The President instructed the Clerk to notifq the members of the Lighting Committee that he had called a meeting of said Committee to meet at the City Hall Tuesday August 11 1925 at 7:30 pm. New Bus A Resolution entitled "A Resolution of the Board of Trustees of the City of Lynwood, Cal., transferring the sum of Twenty-five Hundred 02500.00) Dollars from the General Fund to the Glerk's Street Improvement Fund," was read. ~nr.rnotion by Trustee Gordy seconded by Trustee Tweedy said Resolution being Resolution No 263 was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Tweedy Gordy Reed Downey ' Noes: None Absent: Trustee Hutchinson The Board having under contemplation certain public improve- ment a Resolution entitled "A Resolution of the Board of Trustees of the City of Lynwood, California, adopting and approving certain plans and specifications for the work and improvement of Long Beach BouY~- vard in said City," was read. On motion by Trustee Reed seconded by Trustee Gordy said Resolution being Resolution No 264 was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Gordy Reed Downey Noes: Trustee Tweedy Absent: Trustee Hutchinson •.. A Resolution of Intention entitled "A Resolution of the Board of Trustees of the City of Lynwood, California, declaring its intention to order certain work and improvement upon Lang Beach Boulevard in said City, and also declaring the extent of the district to be bene- fitted and to pay the costs and expenses of said improvement," was read, On motion by Trustee Gordy seconded by Trustee Reed said Reso- lution being Resolution of intention No 265 was adopted by the fol- lowing note: Ages: Trustees Gordy Reed Downey Noes: Trustee Tweedy Absent: Trustee Hutchinson The Marbelite Corp of America having presented l~o~x~greemefits, One Bond and One c~arantee in connection with a possible installment of their hype of lighting standard, a motion was made and carried that said documents be Piled. A new Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance of the Board of Trus- tees of the Gity of Lynwood, California, fixing the amount of money necessary to be raised by taxation upon the taxable property therein _. as a revenue to carry on the various departments of said City of Lyn~* wood for the current year 1923-1926, and fixing the rate oP~taxa'tion necessary'?~to~~raise said amount," was read for the first time.
