Clerk present The minutes of r,Yie meet in~?s of Oct 21-26-28 were read and apx~roved as read ''drit Corns A communication was read from Fritz 7iebarth asking what could be expected in the matter of awarding the contract for the Boulevard lights, stating that rnaterial eras liable to advance above the prices figured on at the time bid was made. And being present asked that he be allowed to.sub- stitu~e a Bid Fond for the certified check deposited at the time bid was made.This was referred to the Attorney with the understand-..ng that substi- " ttztion could be made if same did not invalidate bid. A communication was read from the C it~r t~ttorne~r of Santa PA.anica asking that tre Board appropriate the sum of °200 to nay Attorney fees to f ip~ht the increase #.n rates asked bar various gas and electric companies doing busir~ess in LQs Angeles County. ~T'he .president referred this to the 'dJater and Light Commissioner. A comm~inicatirn ~^ras read from the L~mwood t~un.iciral League asking that "Tdo T'arking Tones" be est.ablishecl on the west side of the intersection of Fernwood and Fong Ieaeh I?lvd and opposite t~ e intersection of F'latt Ave and the I}oulevard. 'Tnf Bus `This being the time and. place set for the hearing of protests on the ,~or'~c or improvement as contemplated by Resolution of Intention Tdo 245, on motion made and carried said hearing was continued to the next regular meeting. A vacancy existing on the Bos~rd of `?:'rustees, the President stated . that the filling of said vacancy would be taken un,and that nominations -.«rere in order. Tri~.st,ee Reed placed in nomination the name of Lars C Ander- son, said nomination being seconded bar i'rust.ee Gorda*, no other nominations being made Lars C Anderson was appointed as a member of the Board of 3'rus- t.ees to fill the vacanc~r created b~,~ the resignation of F F Hutchinson by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Gordy Reed Downer Noes: None Absent : Trustee 'Pweedv T:9r Anderson being present he was snrorn in b~~ the Clerk ar.d took his seat as a member of the Fso~trd of Trustees `l'he President appointed ~'rustee Anderson Fire and Police Commis- sioner. `T'he matter of a change in the manner of taking care of the Fire Engine having been laid over to this date, a motion b~T Trustee Gordy sec- onded. by Trustee Reed that the Fire and Police Commissioner be authorized and empowered to act in this matter at once, was carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Anderson Gordy Deed Downey Tdoes : None Absent: Trustee Tweedy A mistake having been made in the dates covering the Git;tr ?~'ngin- eers contract, Qaid Cit-~r x'nr~ineer presented a new contract, and a Resolu- tion covering same. The new contract having been referred to the City At- torney and upon being x~assed by him as satisfactory said Resolution being Resolution No 273 was adopted bar the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Anderson Gordy Deed Downey Noes : Tdone Absent: Trustee Tweedy Spl Coms The Cit~r Engineer stated that he had taken the matter of the in- st:allation of wig-wags at the Trod jeska Ave and Mullis Road crossings ux~ with the Pacific E:Lectric Ry Co and had been. assured by them that ihe?r? ~:: would at once investigated traffic conditions at these crossings and if t.r~e establishment of wig-wads was found warranted same would be installed. The Cite Engineer reported that A K t"~arren hid`asked that plans eavering a sewer system for the City be filed as soon as passible, and ~, presented a Resolution directing the Cit~r Engineer to proceed at once in the preparation of maps, plans and specifications necessary to, be prepared in the construction of said sewer system.
