HomeMy Public PortalAboutM 1926-02-11 - CC..~~i ::,,.~ Adjourned Regular Meeting Feb 21 1926 ~:=; ~., The Board of Trustees of the City of Lynwood met in adjourned regular session at the City Hall 205 West Mulford Ave Thursday Feb 11 1926 at 8:30 pm Present: Trustees Tweedy Roberts Murray Greenamyer Absent: Trustee C=ordy City Attorney,-Engineer and Clerk present The minutes of the meeting of F'eb 10 1926 were read and approved. The President stated that the .principal object of the meeting was for the purpose of considering a certain Ordinance, to be compiled by """'""' the City Attorney, in connection with the distribution of advertising mat- ter, etc., throughout the City. i The City Attorney stated that he had been busy in matters pertain- , ing to the Long Beach Blvd lighting matter and had not had time to com- plete said Ordinance. He presented an ans~.gned*.agreement covering the an- nullment of the proceedings and contract for the work or improvement as contemplated by Resolution of Intention No 265, and read the same. Fritz Ziebarth being present was asked to express himself in this matter. Mr Ziebarth stated that he had not. had time to go into the matter fully, and was not prepared to p~eseet:: f iguf~~zs showing the cost$ and expenses of the work already done, and make a definite proposition in the event that the Board desired to abandon the installation of the Lighting System. He sled stated that he did not know what attitude the various firms from whom he had contracted to furnish supplies for the installation of the Lighting System would assume in the event of the abandonment of .the project. He further said that he would ,be prepared to present figures and make a de- finite.proposition at the next regular meeting of the Board. 'I'kie City ~iiib~~ stated that he had recommended to Mr Ziebarth 'that he compromise in making a settlement in the event that the Board decided to abandon the installation of the Lighting System, that the. work done so far was satis- factory in every way, and Lhat firms holding contracts for the supplying of the material needed to complete the construction of the Lighting Sys- tem would not hold Mr Ziebarth in case of said abandonment. A motion by Trustee Roberts seconded by Trustee Tweedy Lhat the ...., Citq ~igineer be authorized and instructed to make an estimate of the costs of material and labor used to date in the improvement under Reso- lution of Intention No 265, was carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Tweedy Roberts Murray Greenamyer Noes: None Absent: Trustee Gordy Upon request of the Board Nir Ziebarth stated that he would stop further construction bf the Lighting System at once and incur no further expense connected with said construction until a def inite decision had been arrived at. It being cindsrstood that all interested parties would be prepared to present figures and propositions covering the abandon- ment of proceedings heretofore taken under Resolution of Intention No 265 at the next regular meeting of the Board, it was decided that fur- ther action be deferred until that time. Fire Cozzunisaioner Tweedy spoke on the necessity of maintaining a competent man in charge of the Fire Engine during the night, and rec- ommended that ~+m Pritchard. be employed. A motion by Trustee Murray seconded by Trustee Roberts that Wm ~'rttchard be employed to take charge of Fire Engine between the hours of Z:fIO pm and 6:00 am and answer all fire calls within. those hours for a salary of X50 per month, was carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Tweedy Roberts Murray Greenamyer Noes: None Absent : Trustee Gordy Light Commissioner Murray submitted report of the. Lighting Com- ~--! mittee and City Engineer covering a lighting system for the City, said report being read bar the Cft~r Engineer. Trustee Murray stated that the proposition would be submitted~,to the voters at the next General Muni- cipal Election. Trustee Murray also spoke on the matter of auditing the City accounts and asked an expression from the other members of the Board. After a short discussion this was laid over. it being deemed necessary to obtain the names and addresses of all property owners within the City a motion was made and carried that the City Treasurer be instructed to secure such names and addresses. The 1~ater Commissioner stated that the Water Department had no complete map showing the water system, location. of Fxates, hydrants, et'c., that the same was very necessary, and asked that one be made. He also reported that hydrants were being. installed where needed as rapidly as possible. The Clerk was instructed to order a cloth map to be used in showing the water system.
