HomeMy Public PortalAboutM 1926-04-07 - CCx.42 .; ,._~_ Regular Meeting April 7 1926 ;; ,~ The Board of Trustees of the City of Lynwood met irregular ses- sion at the Gity Hall 205 Vest Mulford Avenue Wednesday April 7 1926 at 7:30 pm. Present: trustees Roberts Gofidy Murray Greenamyer Absent: Trustee Tweedy City Attorney and Clerk present President Greenamyer in the Chair The minutes of the meeting of March 31 were read and approved. ~Yrit Coms A communication was read from Mrs H M Myers of Banning Avenue calling the attention of the Board to the flooded condition of that Ave- nue. The matter was referred to the Street Commissioner. Resolution No 809 of the Board of Trustees of Huntington Park was read. Said Resolution stating that the said Board of Trustees in- tended to call an election to submit the proposition of excluding cer- tain improved school property,namely:8aosevelt School in Lugo Precinct and David Starr Jordan Junior High School, in Los Angeles City School District, from the Citq of Huntington Park in the event that certain territory now included in an annexation election to be held on the 2?th day of April 1926 becomes a part of the City of Huntington Park. Said Resolution was ordered filed. Rcpt Comts The Clerk reported that, as instructed, he had investigated the condition of certain destitute persons, and had caused to be delivered to said persons ~5~5visione costing; X17.22. Unf bus The Clerk reported that he had examined the signatures appended to the tteferendum Petition against ordinance No 61, that he had found that of the total number there were 149 signatures of nualif ied elect~r$n appended thereto, and that said petition was suff icient. A motion by Trus- tee Murray seconded by Trustee Roberts that the City Attorney be instruct- ed to draw an Ordinance repealing and annulling Ordinance b'o 61, was car- ried by the following vats: Ayes: Trustees Roberts Gordy Murray Greenamyer Noes: None Absent: Trustee Tweedy The Gity Attorney reported that he had not completed the inves- tigation of the matter of certain. tax exemption as requested by the Vet- erans Welfare Board, and asked for more time in which to .complete same. ` This was granted. A new Urdinanee entitled "An Ordinance of the Board of Trus- tees of the City of Lynwood, California, fixing the salaries of the Treasurer, Clerk, MarsY~a1 and Recorder, annulling Ordinances Numbered 31, 48, 51 and 57, and all other Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith," was read for the second time. A motion.by Trustee Gordy seconded by Trustee h4urray that said Ordinance be declared read for the second time and laid over far third reading and final passage, was carriod by the following vote : Ayes: Trustees Roberts C,ordy A~[urray Greenamyer Noes: None Absent: Trustee Tweedy New bus The Department of Health of the County of Las Angeles submitted a report covering the activities of said Department ~.ndb~~tYl~+ir contract with the City of Lynwood, and offered contract far the coming year, ask- ing that th® City pay X50 per month for said service instead of X35 as cinder t1~e old contract. Action was deferred to the next regular meeting. Street Commissioner Roberts presented a contract covering the purchase of a ~'ordson Tractor to be used in eliminating we©ds, etc., and recommended the purchase of same. This was laid over to the next meeting. The f inaneial reports of the Mater and City Clerks were read and filed. ~.
