HomeMy Public PortalAbout2020-31 Confirming the Village's ability to fund and support the permitting, design, construction and monitoring of the Village'RESOLUTION NO. 2O2O-3I A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COTJNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF KEY BISCAYNE, FLORTDA, CONFIRMING THE VILLAGE'S ABILITY TO FTJND AND SUPPORT THE PERMITTNG, DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION, AND MONITORING OF THE VILLAGE'S BEACH RENOURISHMENT PROJECT; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Village is the entity responsible for the maintenance and preservation of the beach adjacent to the Village that is the subject of the Village's Beach Renourishment Project (the "Project"); and WHEREAS, the Village supports the permitting, design, construction, and monitoring of the Project, which is located approximately between Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Monuments R-102 and R-108 in Miami-Dade County, Florida; and WHEREAS, the Village recognizes the significant economic, recreational, environmental and shore protection value that beach renourishment has provided since 1987 and continues to provide today; and WHEREAS, the Village is willing to serve as the local sponsor for the Project anh commits to appropriating full funding of the local share of a state approved project in itscapital improvement budget for the permitting, design, construction, and monitoring of the Project anticipated to begin in Fiscal Year 202112022 withperformance monitoring through Fiscal Year 202412025; and WHEREAS, the Village of Key Biscayne Village Council has determined that the Project and the adoption of this Resolution are in the best interest ofthe Village and its residents. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF KEY BISCAYNE, FLORTDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section l. Recitals. That each of the above-stated recitals are hereby adopted, confirmed, and incorporated herein. Section 2. Fundine of Proiect. The Village confirms that it shall provide the balance of any funding required forthe construction and monitoring of the Project that is not funded by Miami-Dade County, FEMA, or by the State of Florida. Section 3. Effective Date. That this Resolution shall be etTective irnmediately upon adoption. PASSED and ADOPTED this lgtr'day of May, 202A.
