A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COMMISSION OF THE TOWN OF
GULF STREAM, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, ELECTING
TO PARTICIPATE IN AND BE INCLUDED IN THE CITIZEN
OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE CREATED BY THE PALM BEACH
COUNTY LEAGUE OF CITIES, WHICH COMMITTEE SHALL
SERVE AS AN ADVISORY AND REPORTING BODY RELATING
TO THE ONE -CENT SALES SURTAX WHICH, BY LAW,
COMMENCED ON JANUARY 1, 2017
WHEREAS, the voters of Palm Beach County have, by referendum, adopted an ordinance
of Palm Beach County creating a one -cent sales surtax, which sales surtax commences on January
1, 2017; and
WHEREAS, county ordinance and the ballot language approved by the voters provides
that municipal expenditures of the one -cent sales tax shall be subject to independent oversight by
a Citizen Oversight Committee; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined by the Town Commission of the Town of Gulf Stream
that it is appropriate that the Palm Beach County League of Cities serve as the Citizen Oversight
Committee for the Town of Gulf Stream for the purposes described in the County's ordinance
relating to the one -cent sales surtax.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Town Commission of the Town of Gulf Stream,
Palm Beach County, Florida, as follows:
Section 1. The Town Commission hereby elects to have the Palm Beach County
League of Cities act as the Citizen Oversight Committee for the Town of Gulf Stream to provide
independent oversight for the purposes described in Palm Beach County's ordinance relating to
the one -cent sales surtax.
Section 2. The Town of Gulf Stream hereby adopts and agrees to be included in and
be bound by the duties, membership requirements, and responsibilities established by the Palm
Beach County League of Cities in its Resolution creating the Citizen Oversight Committee for the
purpose of reviewing the expenditure of said surtax proceeds by the Town and the filing of an
annual report in regard to the Committee's duties as a Citizen Advisory Committee.
Section 3. A copy of this Resolution shall be provided to the Palm Beach County
League of Cities and to Palm Beach County.
Section 4. This Resolution is effective upon adoption, February 10, 2017.
