AN ORDINANCE REGULATING SMOKING ON BOROUGH SPORTS OR
BALL FIELDS AND PARKS DURING DESIGNATED PUBLIC EVENTS
BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Borough Council of the Borough of
Carteret, a municipal corporation of the State of New Jersey, located in Middlesex
County, thereof, as follows:
Section 1. The smoking of tobacco products, particularly including cigarettes, is
hereby prohibited on the grounds of any Borough sports or ball field, public park during
designated public events, or on other designated public property, except in those specific
areas as may be identified as permitted smoking areas.
Section 2. Any violations of this Ordinance shall be subject to the violation and penalty
Provisions of §1 -17 of this Code. ,
Section 3. All Ordinances and/or provisions thereof inconsistent with the provision
of this Ordinance shall be and are hereby repealed as to the extent of any such
inconsistencies.
Section 4. If any section, subsection, part, clause or phrase of this Ordinance shall be
declared invalid by judgment of any Court of competent jurisdiction, the section,
subsection, part, clause or phrase shall be deemed to be sever able from the remainder of
this Ordinance.
Section 5. This Ordinance shall take effect upon passage and publication according to
applicable law.
