A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING NEW GENERAL GUIDELINES TO ASSESS FIRE
DEPARTMENT FEES
Whereas, the Tiffin Code of Ordinances authorizes the City Council to determine and set
by resolution the Fire Department Fee Schedules; and,
Whereas, the City Council has established what is an appropriate fee is for each service
and,
Now, therefore be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Tiffin, Iowa, to approve
and adopt the attached Fire Department Fee Schedule.
On the 18th day of July, 2023, at a regular meeting of the Tiffin City Council, Tiffin, Iowa,
Councilperson Limkemann introduced RESOLUTION NO. 2023-052, A RESOLUTION
ESTABLISHING NEW GENERAL GUIDELINES TO ACCESS FIRE DEPARTMENT
FEES and made a motion to approve. Motion seconded by Councilperson Havens.
Ayes: Schnedler, Limkemann, Havens, Olney, Orris.
Nays: None.
Absent: None.
Whereupon five Council members were present and voted approval and Mayor Berner
declared that RESOLUTION NO. 2023-052, A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING NEW
GENERAL GUIDELINES TO ACCESS FIRE DEPARTMENT FEES to be adopted and
signified his approval of the same by affixing his signature thereto.
Passed by the City Council on the 18th day of July, 2023.

1) Fee includes permit, plan review and final inspection/acceptance testing.
2) Re -Inspection for construction permits will be $100.00/hour, 1 hour minimum.
3) Life safety violations shall be corrected immediately. Any violation deemed to be a life safety hazard may proceed to a Municipal Infraction.
4) The Fire Chief or Building Official may authorize a additional fee of $100.00 per hour for inspections or re -inspections that are requested or required after hours.
5) Permit is good for one open burn, not to exceed 24 hours. Permit also includes up to two alternate dates.
6) Rates based on the Hazardous Materials Response Billing Protocol for Iowa Fire Departments, current edition & the FEMA Schedule Reimbursement Rates. Minimum of one hour.
7) Fees for False/Malfunction will be at the discertion of the Fire Chief and/or the Fire Marshal based on resolving the issue.
