HomeMy Public PortalAbout01/09/1965Commission Meeting Held January 9, 1965
Present: Mayor Curtis H. Dodson
tik
Commissioner John G. Hart
Commissioner J. Phil Hoyle
Commissioner William S. LaPorte
Also attending: Airs. Kathleen Kirton, Mr. Henry Lilienthal,
A1r. William Gwynn
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Dodson.
The minutes of the meeting held December 12 1964 were read,
approved and adopted. The Financial and Water Report for
December, 1964 was read and approved. All expenditures in-
cluded in this report were approved.
There was a brief discussion of the annual audit report. The
Commission noted the Town1s financial condition was excellent.
Mr. Hart expressed hope that the tax millage f or 1965 might be
lowered possibly by seven tenths of a mill.
The Police reports for December were read.
It was noted that the County Legislative Clinic would meet
Jan. 292 1965 if the Town had.any legislation to go before the
State Legislature this spring. The Commission did not feel the
Town had any matters for the Legislature. Mr. Hart asked the
Town Clerk to check into the status of a road on Air. H. F.
Johnsons property to see if the Town had ever accepted this
road and assumed maintenance on it.
Mr. Dodson stated that the Town should review its ordinances
regarding new subdivisions2 including lot and house sizes and
streets and drainage requirements. The Commission agreed that
the eventual development of the polo fields for homes could
create a major problem for the Town if the development were
not regulated. Mr. Dodson apointed a committee of Mr. Igle-
hart, Mr. Hart and Air. Koch to study this matter.
It was pointed out to this Commission that the water line to the
Town Hall came through the water meter for the polo stables and
1.1r. Pope has asked that the Town rebate to him for water used at
the Town since 1954. Mr. Gwynn stated that in December2 1964 the
Town Hall was disconnected from the polo stables and connected
to the water main on Bermuda Lane. The matter of a rebate was
tabled for further study.
A proposal for group life and hospitalization insurance was pre-
sented to the Commission. There was a general discussion of
this plan and any action was tablet'. until everyone had a chance
to study the plan further.

There was a discussion of the policy of the truck driver taking
the truck home each night and using it to pick up the helper each
morning and take him home each night. 11r. Hart said he could
see no objection to this policy as long as the truck was not used
for any other purpose. Imo. LaPorte said he didn't see anything
wrong as long as our insurance protects the Town. tir. Dodson
felt that with the pay scale of these two men the Torn shouldn't
expect them to furnish their own transportation. Further dis-
cussion
iscussion of the subject was tabled until the next meeting when
all the Commissioners could express their feelings.
There being no further business the meejT/1`.n was adjourned.
