HomeMy Public PortalAbout002-2013 - Grant - US corp for ntl svcs - rsvp programORDINANCE NO. 2-2013 AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL, ACCEPTANCE, AND APPROPRIATION OF A GRANT FROM THE UNITED STATES CORPORATION FOR NATIONAL AND COMMUNITY SERVICE WHEREAS, In accordance with Indiana Code (IC) 36-1-4-10, a municipality may execute any documents necessary to receive money from the state or federal government or any other source, and said documents are prepared and executed by the City executive administration, provided that the Common Council of the City of Richmond as the legislative body of the City approves an ordinance for the appropriation of any monies received in accordance with IC 36-4-6-18; and WHEREAS, The United States Corporation for National and Community Service has grant funding available; and WHEREAS, The City of Richmond Parks & Recreation Department desires to submit a grant application to obtain funds that will be used by the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (R.S.V.P.) operated by the Richmond Parks and Recreation Department; and WHEREAS, A total local match of Thirteen Thousand Five Hundred Fifty-four Dollars and Zero Cents ($13,554.00) is required, of which Six Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($6,000,00) shall be from the 2013 Budget of the Richmond Parks and Recreation Department. The remainder of said local match is made by donations and space allowances. The total project is Forty-five Thousand One Hundred Eighty-two Dollars and Zero Cents ($45,182.00). NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, as follows: 1. The City of Richmond Parks & Recreation Department is hereby authorized to submit a grant application to the United States Corporation for National and Community Service. 2. The City of Richmond Parks & Recreation Department is authorized to accept said grant funding in an amount up to Thirty-one Thousand Six Hundred Twenty-eight Dollars and Zero Cents ($31,628.00), contingent upon a total local match of Thirteen Thousand Five Hundred Fifty-four Dollars and Zero Cents ($13,554.00), of which Six Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($6,000.00) shall be from the 2013 Budget of the Richmond Parks and Recreation Department and the remainder of said local match is made by donations and space allowances. 3. Said funds, if awarded to the City of Richmond Parks & Recreation Department shall be appropriated to fund programs and services provided by the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (R.S.V.P.).
