A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING STAFF TO ISSUE A
REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS FOR THE MAINTENANCE OF ALL CITY OWNED
LANDSCAPED MEDIAN ISLANDS
WHEREAS, the Public Works Department, through its Grounds Maintenance
Division, maintains rights-of-way, City owned parks and landscaped median islands;
and
WHEREAS, these median islands provide a buffer area on major streets with
high traffic volumes and in high populated areas and are a significant component of
streetscape beautification; and
WHEREAS, the Department's goal is to maintain all of the City's median islands
in a well-kept and attractive condition; and
WHEREAS, due to an inordinate amount of alternating rainy and sunshine days,
the median landscaping has proven to be problematic at times to maintain properly.
Based on the City's high priority of also maintaining the City parks for sports and other
activities, the Department would like to explore the feasibility of using an outside
contractor for median landscape maintenance.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES
HEREBY FIND, PROCLAIM, ORDER, AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the Lynwood City Council authorizes staff to request proposals
for the maintenance of Landscaped Median islands.
Section 2. That this Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
Section 3. The City Clerk shall certify as to the adoption of this Resolution.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 7 day of June, 2011.
