RE: Additional LIG/MEG requests
The April packet included a request for $10,000 that would be used to supplement our collections with
replacements and to beef up weak areas. This month we have been discussing ways to better showcase
our materials. Patrons are attracted to face out displays and displays based on themes (gardening, staff
picks, etc.). As our circulation levels off, it is important to not only beef up the collections, but make our
materials more accessible and attractive. Another aspect that we would like to explore is to make some
high demand adult items available on the first floor, which we have not tried to any great extent.
This list of items will help us with the goal of better highlighting our materials:
1) 2 display -type book trucks with sign holders for the first floor $1109
2) Free standing wood display for the 2nd floor AV area (near Mastrangelo room) $820
3) 2 chairs (table near Mastrangelo room will be moved to fiction area) $779
4) Book racks for the tops of the new book shelves for face out display $1511
5) 100 book easels for face out display in the stacks $215
6) Slatwall for space ear elevator on first and second floors 5453
Total (not including shipping) $4887
We are also exploring the possibility of attaching slatwall displays to some of the metal end panels in the
stacks, but we don't have that information yet, and I think that the Building Committee may be
interested in helping to fund that aspect of this project.
Another LIG/MEG request is for funds for landscaping. I would like to make the grounds more attractive
and find solutions for the over -trafficked areas in the back. We are aware that there are issues with the
sidewalks and we will be in touch with DPW to see if they can offer some assistance with that. I would
like to be able to spend up to $7500 on landscaping.
