A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE
VILLAGE OF KEY BISCAYNEO FLORIDA' ADOPTING
THE MIAMI.DADE COUNTY LOCAL MITIGATION
STRATEGY 2020; PROVIDING FOR IMPLEMENTATION;
AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Federal Emergency Management Agency funds a national initiative to
help communities develop local mitigation strategies to identify projects that mitigate the effects
of natural disasters and to identify funding sources necessary to implement the projects; and
WHEREAS, the Florida Division of Emergency Management ("FDEM") entered into a
contract with Miami-Dade County ("County") to provide funding to the County and municipalities
within its jurisdiction to jointly develop the County's Local Mitigation Strategy 2020 (the "LMS"),
which will be incorporated into the Statewide Mitigation Strategy; and
WHEREAS, on August28,2020, FDEM completed its review of the LMS and informed
the County that the LMS met the Federal Hazard Mitigation Planning Standards requirements
contained in 44 CFR 201.6(b)-(d) ("Federal Standards"); and
WHEREAS, in order to maintain compliance with Federal Standards and to remain
eligible to receive LMS funding under various grant agreements, the Village of Key Biscayne (the
"Village") desires to adopt the LMS, a copy of which is on file with the Office of the Village Clerk
and attached hereto as ExhibitooA"; and
WHEREAS, the Village Council finds that this Resolution is in the best interest and
welfare of the residents of the Village.
NOWO THEREFORE' BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE
VILLAGE OF KEY BISCAYNE, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Recitals. That each of the above-stated recitals are hereby adopted,
confirmed, and incorporated herein.

Section 2. Adoption. That the Village Council hereby adopts the LMS, a copy of
which is on file in the Office of the Village Clerk and attached hereto as Exhibit "A."
Section 3. Implementation. That the Village Manager is hereby authorized to take
such further action as may be necessary to implement the intent and purpose of this Resolution.
Section 4. Effective Date. That this Resolution shall be effective immediately upon
adoption.
