ROLL CALL: Present: Commissioners: Garvin, Lawson, Millham, Oakley, Beckman Absent: Commissioners: None Also Present: George Dragicevich PROPOSED DRAFT OF SIGN ORDINANCE - Cont'd. Page 6: Item 5: The Commissioners agreed that no signs should be permitted above second story unless a conditional use per- mit is first obtained. Take out Item 6 referring to real estate signs. Item 7: Reword the sentence to read as follows: "No roof signs shall be permitted unless they are designed as an integral part of the building." Item 8: Add words "of building" after "lineal frontage". Item 9: Subparagraph a should be transferred under residen- tial zones. Subparagraph "a "to read as follows: "In residential districts no sign shall exceed 32 square feet in area and no free stand- ing sign shall exceed 12 feet in height!' Take out Subparagraph "'b!' It is recommended to reword sub - paragraph"c"as follows: "All sub -signs shall be removed within six months after final inspection by the Building Department or after 70% of structures have been sold or occupied." Page 7: Item 10: Referring to directory signs, the second sentence should read as follows: "Such signs shall be situated at least 2 feet inside the property line or be designed as an integral part of the building and shall not exceed 8 feet in height." Item 11: The beginning sentence should start as follows: "0n -site directional signs, visible from public thoroughfare, may be erected ... " . Item 13: The last portion of the sentence is suggested to read as follows: "by written permission of the property owner and by approval by the City ". The Chairman expressed a desire to have a new draft of the proposed sign ordinance with all changes covered and discussed in the last three study sessions. Commissioner Lawson brought a meter to measure lighting intensity but unfortunately none of the Commissioners has .a skill in using this instrument. They suggested that the staff contact the County personnel or other professional organizations to give us some assistance in this respect.
