ADJOURNMENT � � 1`� REGULAR MEETING OF THE COMMUNITY AFFAIRS COMMISSION OCTOBER 19, 1988 The Community Affairs Commission met in a regular session on August 17, 1988 at the Council Chambers of the City Hall, 11330 Bullis Road, Lynwood California. (Agenda was duly posted as prescribed by the Brown Act). Commissioner Litsinger called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. Present Excused Yolanda Bays Marion Madden Bette Espeseth Ann Fields David Litsinger Barbara Newton Lucille Walker Barion Madden Staff present: Gerald Forde & Rosemary Valdovinos The minutes of the October 19, 1988 meeting was approved. BUSINESS ITEMS: 1. Discussion on the Abbott House. a. The Board reviewed and approved the staff report on the Abbott House. The article will be featured on the next Lynwood Livinq newsletter. b. Union Station The Commissioners inquired on the status of the old railroad station; they expressed interest in having an article featured on the newsletter. w • • ` 2. REVIEW OF THE RFP FOR CONSULTANT SERVICES � Mr. Forde presented the commissioners with a(n) Request for Proposal for consultant services for their review and input of ideas. The RFP is designed to solicit bids from public relations consultant firms for the purpose of providing the city with a comprehensive public relations program. It _ addresses a general public relations approach to improve the ' image of the city. COMMISSIONERS ORAL -Commissioner Fields felt there was a need to increase the number of'Sheriffs in the City. -Commissioner Bays recommended that staff look into the vacant house located at 3938 Walnut which she think is hazardous to the � public; children are seen roaminq around the place and playing around the empty pool with skateboards. 3 ' -Commissioner Bays suggested a box be placed in the lobby of the I City Hall so that Lynwood residents could donate various items ' for the needy. ` � i -Commissioner Litsinger spoke on behalf of the commissioners I � regarding volunteering to decorate the Commissioners' Dinner event. i The next meeting is scheduled for November 16, 1988. i � The meeting adjourned at 5:45 p.m. � � M ' 1 � � � � ' i� . � f � , � � �
