Commissioners will be selecting a topic for the article. 2. JTPA YOUTH VIDEO PROGRAM PRESENTATION Douglas Robinson will be making a presentation regarding the JTPA activities. , 3. REGULAR MEETING OF THE COMMUNITY AFFAIRS COMMISSION AUGUST 17, 1988 The Community Affairs Commission met in a regular session on August 17, 1988 at the Council Chambers of the City Hall, 11330 Bullis Road, Lynwood California. (Agenda was duly posted as prescribed by the Brown Act). Commissioner Litsinger called the meeting to order at 5:15 p.m. after a fi£teen minutes break to celebrate the upcoming wedding of staff inember Gerald W. Forde. Present Excused Yolanda Bays Bette Espeseth David Litsinger Ann Fields ; Barbara Newton Lucille Walker Marion Madden Staff present: Gerald Forde, Carol de Jesus Chairperson Litsinger made a motion to approve the minutes of July 22, 1988 meeting with correction to include Commissioner Newton as being present at the meeting. Correction noted and made. All in favor. Motion carried. BUSINESS ITEMS: Discussion of Future Projects: 1. Display case: Commissioner Litsinger informed the other members of the Commission to take a look at the display that the staff has put up at the lobby. One commissioner raised a question as to how often the display will be changed and a time frame of six months and three months were suggested. However, the commission did not make a motion to vote on which time frame to consider. � .<< � � � � Mr. Forde informed the commission that the City is considering redesigning and remodelling the cashier's area. Possibly this could incorporate including a city display case area. The purchase of the display case, however has to be postponed until necessary renovations are completed. 2. A Booklet on Lynwood for Promotion Purposes Mr. Forde suggested to the commission of possibly working on a joint project with the Community Access Advisory Board on a booklet that will reflect the activities of Lynwood as a community. In short, a marketing package for the City. 3. Home Beautification Award � ' Another project Mr. Forde thought the commission might like to consider is to give awards to beautified homes as a great incentive for Lynwood residents. 4. "Did You Know" corner on the Lynwood Newsletter Commissioner Newton suggested that it will be a good notion to have a"Did You Know" corner on the Newsletter so that the citizens of Lynwood will have access to various . " historical information about the City they live in. An example would be the status of the old railroad station that Commissioner Bays inquired about, or the green house that is located at Ham Park. The commissioners all agreed to work on this project and they have selected a format to follow. They decided that part of each commission meeting will include: . a. Selection of topics for next quarterly newsletter b. Accumulation of'facts c. Selection of a commission member to write the topic d.
