ROLL CALL: Present: Commissioners: Garvin, Lawson, Oakley, Beckman Absent: Commissioner: Millham Also Present: Planning Director Dragicevich 3 OLD BUSINESS: Proposed Sign Ordinance The following suggestions were made by the Commissioners relative to the draft of the proposed sign ordinance dated December 8, 1968: Page 2: Take out Paragraph 10. Page 3: Add to Paragraph 26 "and supported by the building ". Page 5: In reference to General Regulations, add two separate paragraphs: (a) No exposed.lamp signs shall be permitted; and (b) Signs which move and rotate, or any part that moves or rotates, shall be permitted not to ex- ceed 4 RPM. Pages 6 & 7: Add a paragraph to sections on residential zones R -3 and R -4, Professional Offices in R -4 zone and Com- mercial and Industrial zones to read as follows: "One sign with name and address of building not to exceed 2 -1/2 sq. ft.'in area." Page 6: Paragraph 1 of sections on residential zones R -3 and R -4 and Professional Offices in R -4 zone should be substituted with the following paragraph: "One direc- tory sign containing the names, addresses and telephone numbers of occupants with an area of one (1) sq, ft. per unit, not to exceed a total of 16 sq. ft. in area. Page 7: Section on Commercial and Industrial Signs, Paragraph 4, add the words "the height of " (after "not to exceed "). Page 8: Take out the words "or department store" and insert the words "of buildings" following size of shopping centers. Page 8: Take out Paragraph 10. Page 8: Paragraph 11: Change from 60 to 30 days (signs advertis- ing special sales and events). The staff was requested to retype the proposed sign ordinance and submit it to the City Attorney for his review and comments. 4. COMMUNICATIONS: George Dragicevich announced the next regular meeting of the Southern Calif. Planning Congress will be held in Los Angeles on March 14,1968. He also informed the Commissioners that the applicant in Case CUP 67 -241 has notified the City that he will not build his proposed facility (batting cage) due to conditions imposed by the City.
