John G. Hart
Stewart B. Igleham t
William S. LaPorte
Also attending: Mrs. nathleen Kirton Messr Lilienthal,
Curry, Cowart, Gwynn, Severn and Bradley
Ward.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Dodson.
The minutes of the meeting held February 8, 1964 were read
approved and adopted. The Financial Report and Water Report
for February, 1964 were read and approved. All expenditures
in this report were approved.
Mr. William Severn gave a report on the study he had made of
the beach erosion project now underway in Jupiter, Fla.
including its operation, cost & method of financing. There
was a general discussion of beach erosion, groines and
seawalls. Mayor Dodson appointed a Beach Erosion Committee
of Mr. Hart, Mr. Iglehart and Mr. Severn to give this matter
further study.
Mr. Bradley Ward requested clarification on the 15' right of
way named Palm Way which runs past his property. Mr. Lilienthal
advised him that this right of way had been abandoned by the
Town and it was up to him through his attorney to persue
the matter further.
A letter from C. P. Young was read to the Commission. This
letter complained of Mr. Shetlers hedge and tree encroaching
on his property. The Commission felt that this was a personal
matter between Mr. Shetler and Mr. Young and not something
for the Town to be involved in.
A Check from Fla. Power and Light Company as payment on
Franchise agreement for 1963 was received in the amount of
j03,056.96 an increase of 339.83 over 1962
The Town Clerk reported he had sold the old truck for
$350.00
Mr. Curry of Russell & Axon Consulting Engineers reviewed
the recently completed Water Improvements Report prepared
for the Town. This report is on file in the Town Hall.
Mr. Hart said he thought the recommendedt cost of water
treatment facilities were fantastic since most of the water
is used on lawns. He said the Club uses raw water and has
a small treatment facility at the club house for kitchen
use. Mr. Hart reported that he had Culligan Soft Water Co.
install, on a trial basis a small system at his house and
would report the results at the next meeting.

Bar. Iglehart said he felt the Town Commission had a strong
obligation to the Town and its residents to look ahead to
providing water to the Town in the future realizing that
the water contract with the Club will expire in 1969. He felt
the Town should prepare now for future sources of water and
thought the Town should locate land west of the Intra - coastal
waterway for use as well fields and purchase it now or secure
options on land suitable for use as a water supply. In the
event other water sourses can be obtained in 1969 he felt
the Town could always dispose of the land at no loss. Mr.
Iglehart moved that a committee be set up to locate suitable
land for use as a water supply. Motion passed unanimously.
Mayor Dodson appointed IGir. Iglehart, Mr. Hart and Mr. William
Koch to the committee. Further discussion of the Water
Improvments Report were tabled.
The Police Reports were read and approved.
A street light survey, prepared by Fla. Power and Light Co.
was presented to the Commission. The Commission authorized
the installation of 17 new 2500 Lumen street lights as
recommended. Their recommendations for increased lighting
power along AlA was not accepted. This would have cost
X202.50 a year More and the Commission felt that the lighting
was adaquate for the Towns needs.
Mayor Dodson appointed a committee of Mr. Koch, Mr. Gwynn and
himself to negoiate a new Fire Contract withthe City of
Boynton Beach. The present contract is to expire May 181 1964.
A request from Bar. John Thomas for a building permit to be
issued prior to April 11 1964 was denied.
A request from Mr. Henry Pope for a building permit to be
issued prior to April 1, 1964 was denied. The Commission
also instructed Mr. Gwynn to not issue a permit for Lot 55
Gulf Stream Prop #2 until Mr. Pope can furnish proof of
ownership of 102000 sq. ft. of building site as required by
the Town Zoning ordinance. The Commission did however
waive the requirements of ordinance #123 which would require
the building be set back 781 from the centerline of A1A,
since in the case of lot 55 Gulf Stream Properties 172 it
would render the lot useless for a building site, which was
not the intent of this ordinance.
There being no further business the mgatin was adjourned.
