AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL, ACCEPTANCE,
AND APPROPRIATION OF A GRANT FROM THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY
MANAGEMENT AGENCY (FEMA) ASSISTANCE TO FIREFIGHTERS GRANT PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Federal Emergency Management Agency has funding available through its
Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program; and
WHEREAS, The City of Richmond, Indiana desires to submit a grant application to obtain funding
that will allow the Fire Department to purchase equipment and receive further training; and
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana,
as follows:
1. The City of Richmond is authorized to accept said grant funding in an amount up to One
Hundred Twelve Thousand One Hundred Seventy-five Dollars ($112,175.00).
2. The City of Richmond, Indiana hereby commits to provide local funds in an amount up to Eleven
Thousand Two Hundred Seventeen Dollars and Fifty Cents ($11,217.50) as matching for said grant.
3. The grant funds, if awarded to the City of Richmond, shall be appropriated to allow the Fire
Department to obtain additional training and purchase equipment as follows:
(a) Thirty-three Thousand One Hundred Seventy-five Dollars ($33,175.00) shall be used for
wellness and fitness activities (non -punitive, mandatory Wellness/Fitness Program) and
equipment for five (5) stations.
(b) Sixty-five Thousand Dollars ($65,000.00) shall be used for Hazardous Materials Response
Team training and equipment.
(c) Fourteen Thousand Dollars ($14,000.00) shall be used for Rapid Intervention Team
equipment and training.
Passed and adopted this _7th day of _April 2003, by the Common Council of the City of
Richmond, Indiana.
