AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL,
ACCEPTANCE, AND APPROPRIATION OF A GRANT FROM THE
UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE
WHEREAS, The United States Department of Justice has grant funding available through its
Bullet Proof Vest (BPV) Program; and
WHEREAS, the City of Richmond Police Department desires to submit a grant application to
obtain funds that will be used to purchase new bullet proof vests in 2004; and
WHEREAS, a One Hundred Percent (100%) local match is required and such local match will
be budgeted in the 2004 budget cycle.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond,
Indiana, as follows:
1. The City of Richmond Police Department is hereby authorized to submit a grant
application to the United States Department of Justice.
2. The City of Richmond Police Department is authorized to accept said grant funding in
an amount up to Twelve Thousand Sixty-one Dollars and Twenty-three Cents ($12,061.23).
3. The City of Richmond is hereby authorized to provide local funds from the 2004
budget cycle in an amount up to Twelve Thousand Sixty-one Dollars and Twenty-three Cents
($12,061.23), as matching funds for said grant.
4. Said funds, if awarded to the City of Richmond Police Department, shall be
appropriated to purchase bullet proof vests for use beginning in 2004.
Passed and adopted this _5th day of May2003, by the Common Council of the City
of Richmond, Indiana.
