AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL,
ACCEPTANCE, AND APPROPRIATION OF A GRANT FROM THE
UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE
WHEREAS, The United States Department of Justice has grant funding available through its
Volunteers in Policing Services Program; and
WHEREAS, the City of Richmond Police Department desires to submit a grant application to
obtain funds that will be used to expand the local Volunteers in Policing Program;
and
WHEREAS, no local match is required.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond,
Indiana, as follows:
1. The City of Richmond Police Department is hereby authorized to submit a grant
application to the United States Department of Justice.
2. The City of Richmond Police Department is authorized to accept said grant funding in
an amount up to Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000.00).
3. Said funds, if awarded to the City of Richmond Police Department, shall be
appropriated to expand the local Volunteers in Policing Program.
Passed and adopted this _23rd_ day of _June 2003, by the Common Council of the City
of Richmond, Indiana.
