AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL,
ACCEPTANCE, AND APPROPRIATION OF A GRANT FROM
THE FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION (FAA) AIRPORT
IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (AIP)
WHEREAS, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has grant funding available through its
Airport Improvement Program (AIP); and
WHEREAS, said FAA grant funds will provide up to Ninety Percent (90%) of an Airport
Improvement project's total cost; and
WHEREAS, the City of Richmond desires to submit a grant application to the Federal Aviation
Administration; and
WHEREAS, if the City of Richmond receives the grant funds, such funds will be used to
enlarge the tarmac at the Richmond Municipal Airport by approximately 3000 sq.
yards; and
WHEREAS, extending the tarmac, as described above, will cost approximately One Hundred
Sixty-six Thousand Dollars ($166,000.00); and
WHEREAS, a local match of Sixteen Thousand Six Hundred Sixty-six Dollars ($16,666.00)
(10% of the project's total cost) is required.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond,
Indiana, as follows:
The City of Richmond is hereby authorized to submit a grant application to the Federal
Aviation Administration.
2. The City of Richmond is authorized to accept said grant funding in an amount up to
One Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($150,000.00).
Said funds, if awarded to the City of Richmond, shall be used to expand the tarmac at
the Richmond Municipal Airport.
