HomeMy Public PortalAbout160_021_approvedCRC_Minutes_September_2013 COMMUNITY RESOURCE COMMITTEE Minutes September 16, 2013 @ 4:30pm in City Hall MEMBERS PRESENT Frank Kelly, Dan Lockwood, Sandy Major, Chantel Morton, Mallory Pearce, Kathryn Propst, Freda Rutherford, Paul Wolff MEMBERS ABSENT Tommy Linstroth, Bill O'Brien, Brad Sherman CALL TO ORDER Freda called the meeting to order at 4:30pm. MINUTES The committee approved the August minutes as presented. ANNUAL MEETING AND ELECTION OF OFFICERS Paul conducted the annual election of officers. Nominations were that Kathryn serve as Chair, Freda serve as Vice-Chair, Sandy serve as Treasurer, and Chantel serve as Secretary. The committee accepted the nominations as presented. BY-LAWS AMENDMENTS APPROVAL David made a motion to accept the by-law changes as proposed last month. Frank seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. REPORTS FROM OTHERS Sandy reviewed the Memorial Park Energy Cost Savings to date. The total of all four areas indicates a savings of 71162 kW. These savings equal a savings of$10,383 based on the formula she uses. She expressed concern with continuing to track the data. Paul will confer with the City Manager regarding Sandy transferring her files to the City's finance department for continued tracking. Chantel reported that Chris Shook, Chair of the City's Green Team Committee, provided a comprehensive overview of carbon emissions(CO2) to date per department, goals to reduce CO2 and suggestions to achieve the goals at the last City Council meeting. The committee discussed the Green Team's responsibilities versus the CRC's responsibilities. The committee agreed to have a joint meeting with the Green Team and to invite the City Manager to their meetings. Kathryn reported that she has spoken with Deb, President of Tybee Beautification Association (TBA). They have agreed that TBA will use the sales CRC generates from compost bins and rain barrels as a fundraiser. Freda made a motion to price the compost bins at$60 and the rain barrels at$50. David seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Approved: 10-21-13 Page 1 of 2 The committee reviewed prioritizing the following projects for the upcoming year: public safety building, LED street lights, fleet recommendations,wind turbine, cardboard compactor, glass crusher, police car solar panels, sea level rise/ King Tide project, and gym/YMCA energy monitoring.
