Minutes
I. Call to Order at 6:08 pm
II. Attendance
Samantha Claar, Robin Sterns, John, Deahl, Sallie McClelland, Doris Grieder,
Kristine Kennedy, Marianne Bramble, Ellen Rosenberg
III. Treasurer's Report—Sallie McClelland
Sallie sent us the treasurer's report prior to the meeting. Year to date $887.00
net cash outflow but this includes improvements to lighting and more. See
paperwork for more details.
IV. Secretary's Report—Ellen Rosenberg
Motion was made to accept Secretary's minutes from the May meeting by
John and was seconded by Robin. Approval was unanimous.
V. Newsletter Chair/Publicity Chair-Robin Sterns
Google Analytics continues to be the best free thing ever. It tracked 891 visits
to the TAA web page since last month, 775 of which were different people. 82%
were first time visitors! We have 993 likes on Facebook. This time, in addition to
just posting the information about the upcoming art show, Robin kept talking
about it, highlighting different artists and this made a big difference in traffic.
Facebook is also getting better in tracking specifics.
We had lots going on this month. Jessica used her own designer to make the
poster for her show. He did add the Tybee Tourism logo without charging her
extra, so this will be reimbursable for much of that. November show will be in the
Y Cafeteria. We'll have a separate banner and sign covers for the Y shows. There
is a link on the TAA page to Brad's new cWs. Blithe Spirit has new dates and Robin
has reworked all online and print publicity to reflect that. There will be new sign
covers for the upcoming All Jewelry Show.
We're finalizing the gift certificates for PayPal. It looks like it will be some sort of
hybrid, since official PP certificates don't have an expiration date and we want an
expiration date.
VI. By-Laws Chair-Rob Callahan
Where in the world is Rob Callahan this month? (: No matter, it's all good. Ellen
sent the amended by-laws to the membership as a whole. Everyone who
responded, as they were asked to do, voted in favor of accepting them. The entire
Board voted to accept them as well.
VII. Past President's Report-Michael Bodine
The dvd's are edited but there's a glitch in the burn. Once one is burned
successfully, the copies are easy and quick to do.
VIII. Education Chair-Kristine Kennedy-
Kristine would like to recruit new instructors based on the needs and wants of the
community. We could do this either on our web or Facebook pages. She's also
looking into having Master Classes for our professional artists. Logistic information
is needed so people can access the building. Samantha suggested having six keys
made, so a teaching artist can get in the building. They would be given back, of
course. Kristine suggested having an open house to show the community what we
offer.
IX. Arts Coordinator-John Deahl
We have banner permits for all seven art shows next year. We have a banner
permit for Sordid Lives next spring. We applied for and have the cafeteria for the
July and November shows next year. The Jewelry Show on 12/14 will be called
Bling it On. Love it. There will be no themes for these shows, since it's just one
day. The December W4S is 12/6-7-8.
Kudos to Brad for his acceptance to the National Watercolor Society! Ellen will
send a congratulatory card.
X. New Business
Sloane Edenfield Knudsen has a degree in theater and is trained by NYU in Grant
Writing. She is going to help TAA get grant money and she knows a lot of sources.
When Sloane knows what we want, she will be happy to research the best sources
for where to get the money. Proposals need to be specific. People were asked to
email the Board their ideas, wants, needs and desires as they pop into our heads
before the next meeting.
John is going to look into getting on the Tourism Council Board.
XI. Old Business
Barry Brown spoke to Samantha prior to the meeting. Anything that has to do with
structure will have to be done by a licensed contractor. Barry is going to look for
one for us. Hopefully, there will be progress now!
The refrigerator business is getting old. (: We are just going to go buy a new one,
someone will deliver it and take the old one away. Samantha will do this before
the theater performance.
XII. Nominating Committee-Marianne Bramble
Maryanne has found three people who will sit on the committee. Ellen will be the
voting board member in addition to Kayla Pepper, Alice Gerber, Valeria Rome and
Marianne.
Ellen motioned for adjournment, Doris seconded at 7:15 pm
