REGULAR MEETING OF THE PERSONNEL BOARD

September 15, 1988
The regular meeting of the Personnel Board of the City of Lynwood, California
was held on Thursday, September 15, 1988 at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers
of the Lynwood City Hall, 11330 Bullis Road, Lynwood, California. The agenda
was duly posted as prescribed by the Brown Act.
CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Johnson. Roll call was taken by I
Donald J. Fraser, Assistant City Manager in Mr. Robinson's absence. PRESENT:
Vice Chairperson Gilpen, Commissioner Litke, Commissioner Swift, Chairman John- I
son. ABSENT: Commissioner Esparza.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES �
The motion was made by Commissioner Gilpen and seconded by Commissioner Swift !
to approve the minutes of the meeting of August 18, 1988 as presented. All I
in favor. Motion carried. �
STUDIES & REPORTS �

The first item on the agenda was the request from Personnel for the certification I
of the eligibility list for the position of Administrative Analyst II, The motion i
was made by Commissioner Litke and seconded by Commissioner Swift. Chairman John- i
son questioned if this was an in-house promotional exam. Mr. Fraser answered it
was not. If there had been Administrative Analyst I candidates in-house then this i
type of recruitment would have been conducted. Chairman Johnson asked why there f
was only an oral interview. Mr. Fraser explained that the testing process depends ;
upon the nature of the position. Most administrative positions have only an oral '
exam whereas clerical and laborer type positions have a written examination for ,
screening. All in favor. Motion carried. �
The eligibility list for the position of Office Assistant II was requested to be �
certified by the board. The motion was made by Commissioner Litke and seconded �
by Commissioner Gilpen to certify this list. All in favor. Motion carried. �
The board was requested to certify the list for Senior Planner. The motion was (
made by Commissioner Litke and seconded by Commissioner Gilpen to certify the
list. All in favor. Motion carried. ,
The Administrative Aide eligibility list was handed out to the board for their ;
approval of certification. The motion was made by Commissioner Litke and secon- �'
ded by Coimnissioner Gilpen to certify the list. All in favor. Motion carried. ;

The eligibility list for the position of Custodian was passed out to the Board
for their certification. The motion was made by Commissioner Gilpen and seconded
by Commissioner Litke to certify the list. Commissioner Swift asked if it was
possible to get a copy of the Custodian exam to review due to the low number of
candidates passing. Mr. Fraser noted it could be requested. All in favor.
Motion carried. �
ADSOURNMENT
There being no further business to conduct the motion was made by Commissioner
Litke and seconded by Commissioner Litke to adjourn. The next re'gularly sche- I
duled meeting will be October 20, 1988 at 5:00 p.m.. All in favor. Motion
carried. I
