The meeting was called to order by Vice Mayor Iglehart.
The minutes of the meeting held July 13, 1963 were read and
approved, and adopted. The financial and water reports for July,
August and September were read and approved. All expenditures
included in those reports were approved.
There was a discussion of investing surplus money in local Savings
and Loan associations. The Commission felt this would not be a
good policy to follow.
It was announced the Town recently received a check from Palm
Beach County in the amount of $1049.30. This being the Town's
share of the Road and Bridge Fund taxes.
The Commission authorized the installation of three additional
street lights in Place au Soleil subdivision at Mr. Boardman's
request.
At the request of Mr. Frederic Ayres, the Commission authorized
the changing of name of School Road to Old School Road.
A letter from Steven Bailey, Vice President of Miami Elevator Co.
commending our police force was read to the Commission.
The Police reports for July, August and September were read.
The minutes of,the Board of Equalization meeting held August 14,
1963 were read, approved, and adopted. Resolutions #527, #528
and #529 as passed by the Board of Equalization were read. These
minutes and resolutions are included and become a part of these
minutes.
Resolution #530, setting percentage of-certain General Fund ex-
penses to be charged to the Water Fund, was read, approved and
adopted.
Ordinance #122 relating to cigarette taxes was placed on First
reading.
It was pointed out to the Commission that the 1963 Tax Roll shows
a new tax revenue increase of $1,336.00.• Real Estate Taxes •-
$48,320.00, Personal Property Taxes - 02,936.00, Total - 4512256.00.
The Commission authorized a salary of $325.00 per month for
Harold J. Corbett, newly hired patrolman.
-2-
Deputy Town Clerk Gwynn reported that all the paving of streets
in the Town as authorized by the Commission had been done, except
for Palm Way and Middle Road. Mr. Fleming has made final inspec-
tion and oked the work to date with a few minor items to be taken
care of. Hardrives indicated they will finish Palm Way•and Middle
Road in the next two weeks. When all work is completed, this will
represent a total of $12,541.76 in improvements to the Townts
streets. Mr. Iglehart stated that Hardrives had just completed
the work to date and that the contracts were signed in May, 1963.
He pointed out that they had continually delayed getting started
with the work all summer long. He suggested that in the future
the Town get at least two other bids for work to be done and
that a time limit be imposed on each new job to come up. The
Commission concurred.
The Commission authorized Himes & Himes CPAts to begin work on
the annual audit for the Fiscal year ended September 30, 1963.
There being no further business to come before the Commission,
the meeting was adjourned.
