The meeting was called to order by Mayor Dodson.
The minutes of the meeting held October 13, 1963 were read,
approved and adopted. The Financial and water reports for
October, 1963 were read and approved. All expenditures in-
cluded in this report were approved.
A letter from Col. Young was read to the Commission. This
letter requested a variance be granted to allow construction
of a carport on Col. Youngs property. The Commission voted
unanimously to deny this request since no new information re-
lating to the objections raised by the adjacent property owners
at a previous hearing had been presented.
Mrs. Oliver was given the floor to voice her complaints about
the Town's water being supplied to the homeowners. The
Commissioners all agreed that the quality had not been good
for the past several months. Mr. Iglehart moved that the
town have the water anal*zed at once. Motion was seconded
and passed. Mr. Hart stated that the Club would make a study
to see what was the trouble and what could be done to improve
this situation.
The Police reports for October, 1963 were read and approved.
The second and final reading of Ordinance #133 relating to
an increase in cigarette taxes was heard by the Commission.
It was moved, seconded and passed unanimously.
There was a brief discussion of pay raises for Roy Cowart,
Melton Pertin, Stafford Rafuse and Paul Bradwell. The Deputy
Town Clerk was instructed to gather additional information
to be discussed at the next meeting.
The Commission authorized Mr. Gwynn to obtain an estimate on
needed roadwork for Old School Road.
The Commission authorized Mr. Gwynn to obtain prices on a new
dump truck for the Town. The Commission authorized Mr. Hoyle

to aid in any way possible to get the lowest price available
for a truck that would fit the Town's needs.
There being no further business to come before the Commission,
the meeting was adjourned. x _�—
