LaPorte Also attending: Mrs. Kathleen Kirton, Messrs. Lilienthal, Gwynn and C. P. Young. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Dodson. The minutes of the meeting held November 9, 1963 were read; approved, and adopted. The Financial and Water Reports for November, 1963 were read and approved. All expenditures in this report were approved. A letter from Mr. Ayres was read to the Commission. This letter urged that the Town do something to improve the condition of Old School Read. Mr. Hart moved that the Town get three bids for this work. Motion passed unanimously. The Commission authorized payment of $250.00 as s donation to the Palm Beach County Worlds Fair Authority. The Commission voted to not make a donation to the Animal Rescue League. The police reports for November were read. There was a general discussion of the Police Department. Mr. Iglehart moved that the Town set bonds for traffic violations at $25.00. This is to encourage violators to come to court and be more aware of the offense. Motion passed. Water reports for analysis were read. Mr. Hart reported the Club had also taken water samples. Well #3 was shown to have a high iron content. The Club is planning to either deepen this well or relocate it further west of its present location. Mr. Iglehart moved that the Town write the Club advising them of the high color rating of the Towns water and asking them what they could do to correct this condition. Motion passed. Discussion of the annual audit report was tabled until the next meeting. The Commission authorized payment of $925.00 to Himes & Himes for preparation of the report. The Commission authorized purchase of a new trash truck from Adams Chevrolet for $3823.76 with a trade allowance of $200.00. The Commission gave Mr. Gwynn authority to dispose of the old truck to the best advantage to the Town. The Commission authorized payment of $100.00 to Mark Fleming for engineering services in connection with the street surfacing program. I 0 Page 2 (Conn) The Commission authorized installation of one street light at the west end of Middle Road. The Commission authorized pay raises as follows: Melton Partin Roy Cowart Stafford Rafuse Paul Bradwell $23.00 per month 20.00 it 2.50 Per week 2.00 " The Commission voted unanimously to promote Melton Partin to the rank of Sergeant. The Commission authorized payment of Christmas bonuses as follows: Cowart, Partin; Brown and Gwynn - $100.00 each Corbett $35.00, Rafuse $75.00, Bradwell $50.06. Col. Young was given the floor to state several complaints and recommendations. Police department costs too much, policemen not qualified, stables unsanitary, poor roads, quality of T4aass7o —" water poor; salaries too high, tax assessments unfair, commissioners. unprepared, etc. The Commission thanked Col. Young for his thoughts. The Commission authorized a pay raise of $25.00 a month to William Gwynn. Mr. Gwynn was instructed to look into the possibility of getting an answering service for the telephone in the Town Hall, and report back at the next meeting. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned.
