AN ORDINANCE RENAMING INDUSTRIAL ROAD IN
HONOR OF PETER J. SICA
WHEREAS, Peter J. Sica was a lifclong member of the Borough of Carteret (the
"Borough") community; and
WHEREAS, Peter J. Sica was the loving husband of his wife Barbara and the devoted
father of his son Frank and daughter Anena; and
WHEREAS, Peter J. Sica was known to the people of the Borough for his kindness
and generosity to those in need; and
WHEREAS, Peter J. Sica served the Borough with distinction as a Councilman and
Mayor for two decades; and
WHEREAS, Peter J. Sica was the leading proponent of the creation of Industrial
Road which is the critical link in the growth and development of the Borough; and
WHEREAS, Peter J. Sica was tragically killed in a construction accident on October
6, 1999; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council wish to honor the memory and accomplishments
of Peter J. Sica by renaming Industrial Road in his name.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Council of the
Borough of Carteret that hencefore the roadway currently designated as Industrial
Road shall be known and designated as "Peter J. Sica industrial Hghway .
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, that the roadway be appropriately signed, and that a
memorial plaque be placed along the roadway in honor of Peter J. Sica.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, that this ordinance shall take effect immediately.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, that a copy of this ordinance shall be forward to all
appropriate regulatory entities.
