MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF ASSESSORS
Date $ October 21 , 2019 — Regular Session
Time ; 5 : 30pm
Location : 2198 Main Street, Brewster , MA 02631
Present ; Chair Belinda Eyestone ; Member G . Howard Hayes ; Deputy Assessor James
Gallagher; Senior Department Assistant Erika Mawn
Not Presents Member Diane Salomone
Call to Orders Ms . Eyestone called the meeting to order at 5 : 50pm .
1 . Report of the Deputy Assessors Mr . Gallagher apologized for running late and reported
that the office has been extremely busy with calls and walk- ins regarding value adjustments .
2 . Discuss Charter Committee information request re ; MGL Chapter 41 Section 25A ;
The Board of Assessors discussed the email request from the Charter Committee regarding
appointment of an " assistant assessor" or " deputy assessor " . The consensus of the Board of
Assessors was that the hiring of the deputy assessor should remain the authority of the Town
Administrator, but with input from the Board of Assessors .
3 . Classified Land Applications ( Chapter 61 , 61A , 61B ) ; Mr . Hayes moved to approve the
list of Classified Land Applications as recommended by the Deputy Assessor . Ms . Eyestone
seconds the motion . Approved unanimously .
4 . Review and approve Regular Session Meeting Minutes ; September 16 , 2019 ; Ms .
Eyestone moved to approve the September 16 , 2019 minutes as presented . Mr . Hayes
seconds the motion . Approved unanimously .
5 . Topics the Chair did not reasonably anticipate ; None
Executive Session (To comply with or act under the authority of, any general or special law or
federal grant- in- aid requirements : MGL Chap . 59 § 60 and MGL Chap . 214 § 1B )
At 5 : 58 pm Mr . Hayes made the motion to go into Executive Session for the reason noted above ,
not to return to regular session . Ms . Eyestone seconds the motion . Roll call vote : Hayes — Aye ;
Eyestone — Aye $ approved unanimously .
