A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD APPROVING
THE STREET CLOSURE OF CESAR CHAVEZ LANE (MARTIN LUTHER KING JR.
BLVD TO BIRCH STREET) FOR THE BIKE SAFETY EXPO EVENT AND
AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS/CITY ENGINEER TO CLOSE
THE STREET FOR THIS EVENT
WHEREAS, Cesar Chavez Lane (between Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. to Birch
Street) needs to be closed for the Bike Safety Expo; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the closure is to conduct an event to promote bike
safety; and
WHEREAS, the street closure is scheduled for Saturday, August 13, 2011, from
7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Vehicle Code Section 21101 (e), the temporary closure
would be necessary for the safety and protection of those attending the event;
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES
HEREBY FIND, PROCLAIM, ORDER AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council hereby finds, in accordance with Vehicle Code
Section 21101 (e), that the temporary closure of Cesar Chavez Lane (between Martin
Luther King Jr. Blvd. to Birch Street) is necessary for the safety and protection of
persons wishing to attend or participate in the Bike Safety Expo event.
Section 2. The City Council approves the temporary street closure of Cesar
Chavez Lane between Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and Birch Street from 7:00 am to
2:00 pm on Saturday, August 13, 2011, to accommodate the Bike Safety Expo.
Section 3. The City Council authorizes the Director of Public Works/City
Engineer to temporarily close Cesar Chavez Lane between Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
to Birch Street for the Bike Safety Expo.
Section 4. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED THIS 5 day of Juty, 2011.
