The chart below depicts the coordinates of the trees to be preserved and the opposite chart to the right reflects the number of inches of each tree. Please provide any direction regarding needed changes so that the building permit process can begin. I'll forward you the email from Bubba regarding the GA Power easement...Bubba said we didn't need it & GA Power is aware (Chris Tatusko, Engineer is our contact). Attached is an example already provided from Dianne Otto. Thanks, Woody From: Dianne Otto Sent: Friday, October 25, 2013 2:58 PM To: Woody Hemphill Cc: Chris Shook Subject: RE: tree removal application - 8 oaks Woody — We need the type of tree survey you are asking about. When working with small properties it is easy to go to the site and note in the permit file which trees are being put into protection to mitigate what is being permitted for removal. For example, I'll write a note in the file, "removal of the 15 -inch oak will be mitigated with the remaining 22- inch oak in the northwest corner of the lot." We haven't been doing that for your tree removal permits. Below is a list of the tree removals at the campground back to 2009, with the latest application not yet having a permit number. It shows 338 - inches of mitigation are needed. Check my math. What species and diameters were the plantings through the Savannah Tree Foundation? There is a 2 -inch minimum diameter requirement for plantings. Are there enough plantings and remaining trees you want to put into protection to total 338 - inches? Attached is a recent tree survey prepared by a Land Surveyor. In the tree removal permit file for this property there are yellow highlights on the trees they were approved to be removed and pink highlights on the mitigation trees that are now in perpetual protection. A plan similar to that is needed for your application. PERMIT REQUEST MITIGATE? Is there an existing tree inventory that we may determine /earmark trees from? If they are on an existing inventory, would they be classified as already 'protected'? Please advise. Woody From: Dianne Otto Sent: Thursday, October 24, 2013 11:17 AM To: Woody Hemphill Subject: tree removal application - 8 oaks Woody —Joe returned the paperwork with his approval of 8 oak trees totaling 102 - inches. DO NOT BEGIN THE PROJECT. MY APPROVAL OF A PERMIT HAS NOT BEEN GIVEN. Regardless of the purpose of a tree removal, mitigation of significant species is required. Oak is a significant species. Before I can approve the application and issue a permit, a written mitigation plan for 102 - inches of oak trees is needed. Any combination of the following options are allowed: 1. $50 per inch to the Palms Up fund for planting of trees on city property 2. Inch - for -inch plantings of oak trees of at least 2- inches in diameter which must be maintained for at least 2 years. 3. Identification of 102 - inches of existing oak trees which must be placed into perpetual protection from removal (trees already in protection cannot be reused). Dianne K.
