RE: LIG/MEG requests
This month we are requesting two items— makerspace funding and a new people counter system. The
makerspace request is in a memo from Caitlin which also gives you an update on where we are with the
project.
The people counters that we have now were purchased when we opened the building 8 years ago. They
do an okjob, but we would like a new system that will give us much more information. The information
which will include numbers of adults versus children, will be sent directly to an excel sheet over our
network. I am requesting $2000 from LIG/MEG for the system. It will end up costing more, but we will
take the additional from the regular operating budget. Below is the information about the system:
Hi Alison
Thank you for your web inquiry. I'm providing you information on our IP based Activid 3D video sensor
which are ceiling mounted sensors, connected to the network with a network cable and very
accurate. They are reliable and easy to manage.
ACTIVID — ACTIVE INFRA RED SENSOR WITH 3D VIDEO CAMERA OFFERING WELL OVER 95% ACCURACY
EVEN WITH HIGH TRAFFIC OR STOPPED TRAFFIC
a PC-VAIR-5N $995, runs on POE switches. If you don't have POE onsite, single port power
supply is $49
• Ceiling mounted sensor, looks for images of head and shoulders with height. Will not
mistakenly count shadows of anything with a zero height (like single lens cameras can).
Can count in complete darkness.
• Over 95% accuracy — most times 98-99%
® IP based, allow for remote trouble shooting as above. Can also record video of counts
to play back in validation software to ensure accuracy is on point.
• Can count multiple metrics —adults, children, groups, individuals
• Flexible mounting options (ceiling, wall mount, recessed mount)
123 Main Street Watertown, MA 02472-4478
617.972.6434 watertownlib.org
• Nodes can be daisy chained to master sensor to cover wider entrances. Nodes are less
expensive at $995 and do not require a separate home run cable to the network (they
are daisy chained to the master).
We have a hosted software solution available as well as a non hosted solution.
XTrends Hosted software — Counts are sent to our server and you can access them by web login.
$180 per single entrance at a facility per year. Subsequent licenses at same entrance are $60.
VEA software installed on your server — Very customizable, able to connect other data sources,
centralizes all your counts from various locations so you can report on divisions, chains, regions and
build "to -date" reports, comparative reports or trending in various formats (graph, bar, spedometer,
excel). VEA includes unlimited support for one year (hardware and software), warranty, training and
quarterly accuracy assessments)
$240 with two year commitment
$300 for one year (not obligated to renew — you will keep the software, but not continue
warranty/support)
After the first license, discounts on subsequent licenses at the same site will apply.
Please let me know if you have questions or would like to set up a web demo!
Kind regards,
