A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE
VILLAGE OF KEY BISCAYNEO FLORIDAN HONORING
THE LIFE OF GAIL D. SEROTA AND HER UNEQUALED
CONTRIBUTION TO THE VILLAGE OF KEY BISCAYNE.
\ilHEREAS, since the initial incorporation of the Village of Key Biscayne (the
'oVillage"), the law firm of V/eiss Serota Helfman Cole and Bierman (the "Firm") has served as
the Village Attomey for the Village; and
\ilHEREAS, over the last 27 years, Gail D. Serota, a partner with the Firm, zealously,
brilliantly and with grace represented the Village in a variety of complex legal matters helping to
create the Village's "Island Paradise" that exists today; and
\ilHEREASo the Firm, under Gail's leadership, was the driving force behind the
formative efforts to establish a thriving community, including the acquisition and development
of the Vitlage Hall, the Village Council Chambers, the Fire Department Facilities and the Village
Community Center, as well as securing critical agreements that provide the community with
essential open space and recreational facilities; and
\ilHEREAS, on November 25,2018, Gail accidently and tragically died while enjoying
the waters of Biscayne Bay, just off the Village shores; and
WHEREAS, the Village Council notes with deep sorrow and solemn mourning the death
of Gail D. Serota and extends heartfelt sympathy to her entire family and the Firm; and
WHEREAS, given Gail's longtime advocacy on behalf of the Village, the Village
Council wishes to honor her life and express its appreciation for all she contributed to our
community.
NOWO THERE,FORE' BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF
THE VILLAGE OF KEY BISCAYNE, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Recitals Adopted. That each of the above-stated recitals are hereby
adopted, confirmed, and incorporated herein.
Section 2. Honoring the Life of Gail D. Serota. That the Village Council honors
and, on behalf of the Village of Key Biscayne, expresses deep appreciation for the outstanding
and important service and commitment of Gail D. Serota to the Village.
Section 3. Effective Date. That this Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
adoption.
