a. CALL TO ORDER - Chairperson Katherine Amey called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.

IIL SCHEDULED MATTERS -
- a. Juneteenth Celebration - June 19, 2004 - Annual celebration in Lynwood City Park from 12:00 noon
; to 7c00 p.m. Activities include board-game competitions, bake-off, drill-team competition, line dance,
and watermelon eating contest.
b. July 4�h Celebration - The annual celebration will take place in Lynwood City Park on Sunday, July 4,
2004. This event will include local entertainment and a fireworks show at dusk.
' N. PUBLIC ORALS - Please adhere to the three-minute time limit. ,
Ms. Phyllis Cooper-Lyons, Recreation Superintendent II introduced the Lynwood Regal Red Hat Society.
: Ladies must be over 50 years of age to participate in this group. This is a group of ladies that wear red hats
and purple attire and gather together to participate in a variety of activities. Their primary focus is fun
gatherings and not formal meetings as there are no rules or titles. Some of the members include: Phyllis
Cooper-Lyons, Sylvia Herron, Paulette Bradley, Ms. Slms, Betty Jingles, Mary Harper, Ruth Daniels, Niya �
Smith, Ann Fields and Ms. Jenkins (there are others). Other Red Hat Society groups have recently been
spotted at Disneyland and at a Laguna restaurant. There are no membership fees to join this group. They
do not plan to hold fundraising ventures. Each membermust pay their own way to all activities. The
Lynwood Regal Red Hat Society group is planning a trip to see the play "Menopausal°. They will also have a
booth at the upcoming Juneteenth Celebration and serve the public a scoop of ice cream. There will be a
Red Hat Society National Convention in Las Vegas in December 2005. If you are not yet 50-years of age and
' wish to participate in their activities you may wear pink hats and iavender attire.
