APPROVING CHANGE ORDER #1 TARHEEL ENTERPRISES, INC./
MII,1K STREET RESURFACING PROJECT
WHEREAS, tine Govcrifing Body of tile Borough of Carteret has previously
awarded a contract to Tarheel Enterprises, Inc. in the amount of 5304,842.50 for
improvements to Milik Street; and
WHEREAS, the Borougln's Consulting Engineer for thc project, TAM
Associates, has advised thc Governing Body that a modification of thc contract is
reasonublc and necessary and has recommended that the aforesaid contract be
modified in accordance with Contract Ctnange Order #1 (See attached); and
WHEREAS, Change Order #1 also includes increases in tine cost of the contract
in the amount of S8376.60 lbr additional concrete curb, type I, required by' thc
existing field conditions; and
WHEREAS, Change Order #1 also includes a reduction it] the cost of the contract
in the amouut of S8725.00 due to the elimination of a bicycle safe inlet grate that
was not needed and a reduction it] the amoun! of concrete curb, type iii. that was
not needed dne to the increase it] the above described concrete curb, type 1; and
WHEREAS, Change Order #1 provides for a not rednction in the cost of the
contract in the amount of $348.48, resulting in a revised contract price of
$304,494.10; and
WIIEREAS, the Borougb's Consulting Engineer, TAM Associates has advised
that tine above described changes and'or modifications were unforeseen at thc
time of tire award of the original contact.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by thc Mayor and Borough Council
of the Borough of Carterct as follows:
1. Contract Change Order #1 is hereby approved.
2. Thc appropriate Borough Officials arc hereby autlnorizcd to execute Chungc
Order #1.
