CALL TO ORDER - The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. b. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE - The Pledge of Allegiance was not recited. c. ROLL CALL Chairperson Katherine Amey - Absent Vice Chairperson Adolph Lopez - Present Commissioner Sue Amicone - Absent Commissioner Joyce Edner - Absent Commissioner Gloria Garcia - Present Commissioner Ramirez - Present Commissioner Georgette McKinney - Present I d. CERTIFICATION OF AGENDA POSTING - The agenda was duly posted for the August 17, 2005 i eeting as prescribed by the Brown Act. APPROVAL OF PAST MINUTES - The July 2005 minutes were not approved due to lack of a quorum at the time this item came up on the agenda. I � II. INFORMATION ITEMS I a. City Council Items - Tolerance Project going to Council on 9/20 for decision b. General City Program Report - Upcoming events include: • Coastal Clean-Up Day will be held on 9/17/05 from 9:00 a.m. to noon. The target clean-up area is Fernwood Avenue. Trash bags and water will be provided. News Channels 2 and 9 are sponsors as well as Arrowhead and Evian Water. I • The Chivas Soccer Team is hosting a free Soccer Clinic on 8/27 at 10:00 a.m. in Ly'nwood City Park • Congresswoman Linda Sanchez will be present at the Ms. Fiestas Patrias Pageant to be held on 8/27 at Lynwood High School at 6:00 p.m. Monies generated from ticket sales will be used for a girl's scholarship. Tickets are $8.00. • Annual Neighborhood Beautification Program - Applications are being accepted beginning in August through September 29, 2005. Include a photo of nominated residence, brief paragraph describing residence, and residence address. Also include nominators name, address and day and evening phone numbers. Drop off or mail to Lynwood City Hall. ' a Senior Citizens Program Report - None � ' d. Library Report - The Friends of the Lynwood Library are having a book sale on 8/20 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Lynwood Library. Bargain prices plus refreshments! e.
