Nomination for Vice-Chairperson Motion Second Vote , � VII COMMISSIONER ORALS VIII ADJOURNMENT Regular meeting — May 19, 2005 Motion Second Vote ; CITY OF LYNWOOD REGULAR MEETING OF THE PERSONNEL BOARD THURSDAY, MARCH 17, 2005 ' The regular meeting of the Personnel Board of the City of Lynwood, California was heid on Thursday, March 17, 2005 at 5:00 p.m. in the VIP Room of Bateman Hall, 11331 Emestine Ave., Lynwood, California. The agenda was duly posted as prescribed by the Brown Act. CALL TO ORDER Chairperson Bradley called the meeting to order at 5:05 p.m. Roli call was taken by Gail L. Black, Personnel Officec Commissioner Jingles was absent. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Led by Commissioner Villanueva. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The motion was made by Vice-Chairpersori Quinonez and seconded by Commissioner Villanueva to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of February 17, 2005. All in favor. Motion carried. PUBLIC ORALS — None STUDIES & REPORTS Certification of eligibility lists: Civil Engineering Associate, Civil Engineering Assistance, Electrical Maintenance Superyisor. The motion was made by , Chairperson Bradley and seconded by Vice-Chairperson Quinonez to approve the eligibility lists. All in favor. Motion carried. Vice-Chairperson Quinonei asked about the process used in determining whether a written examination or an oral examination is used in evaluating candidates. Ms. Black briefly explained the process. Commissioner Villanueva questioned what would happen if there were an objection to an eligibility list by the board. Ms. Black noted that the lists are presented to the board in line with the City's 60% pass point and if a candidate had an objection they would need to come before the board: Personnel Board March 17, 2005 COMMISSIONER ORALS Commissioner Villanueva commented that her mother was honored at the women's luncheon held that day for her active involvement in the community as a b�ock watch captain and with the parish of St. Emydius. Vice-Chairperson Quinonez inquired as to the newspaper article concerning 16 layoffs. Ms. Black briefly explained the Council's direction on a balanced budget and that the goal was to locate vacancies for the positions that were proposed to be eliminated. ADJOURNMENT The mot+on was made by Vice-Chairperson Quinonez and seconded by Commissioner Villanueva to adjourn to the regular meeting of April 21, 2005. All in favor. Motion carried. As such, nominations are in order for Chair and Vice-Chairperson at this time.
