There was one non - committee member : Robert Tobias Absentees : Susan Riseman , Hal Minis . Guest speaker : Michael Gradone ( Brewster Recreation Dept . ) Meeting was called to order at 5 : OOPM • Minutes from the November 21, 2019 minutes were unanimously approved . • May is Bike Month , we agreed we need to promote cycling in Brewster . • Greg Wright presented a map of Brewster roads on which he had highlighted routes, both paved and unpaved , that are considered "safe " for road and off- road biking . There was discussion on some of the routes and some adjustments were made . The possibility of incorporating the 8 miles of trails in Nickerson State Park was suggested . It was decided we should move forward on promoting the use of these routes . We will look into ways to make a map available to the public . Printed maps, wall posters and putting the map on the Bikeways webpage on the Town ' s website were talked about . • Eric Levy spoke with Brewster Water Superintendent who indicated the Water Department' s support for a water bubbler at the Underpass Rd ./ Rt . 137 parking area . Robert Tobias researched bubblers and gave the Committee literature on a unit that has a drinking fountain , water bottle filler and doggie bowl alkin - one . We will need to find the funds to purchase the bubbler, roughly $ 6100 . Eric does not feel there would be a problem locating the bubbler next to the Cape Cod Rail Trail on State property . • George Bausch was going to see if the Town had any more "Share the Road " available . • There was much discussion with Michael Gradone regarding the " Brewster Bike Day" event that we are planning . Saturday May 16, 2020 was the date chosen . It will run from 1 to 3PM . The format will be similar to last year' s event . It will be held at the Stoney Brook School this year because of it' s proximity to the CC Rail Trail . The thought was we could offer group rides on the trail . It was suggested we ask the local bike shops if they would help out . In return they could set up a table at the event . We discussed approaching the school principals to ask the physical education program to bring encourage kids to come to the Bike Day . • Since the Town has been promoting drinking Brewster water instead of buying bottled water the idea of giving away water bottles was brought up . The Brewster Water Department currently gives away aluminum bottles at Conservation Day and other events, perhaps they would consider plastic biking bottles . • We plan to re - energize the Bikeways Facebook Page . • Next meeting will be January 16, 2020 at 5 : 0013M . We plan to further discuss marketing cycling in Town . Michael Gradone will attend the meeting so we can continue our planning for the Bike Day event . • Meeting adjourned at 6 : OOPM . i
