HomeMy Public PortalAbout2020.03.11 GAC Minutes w GCAC MEETING MINUTES FOR March 11, 2020 Roll Call: Rita Bolli, Eric McCormick, Allan Morrison, Todd McKennna and Michael Hayes were present, Ken Stearns and Suzanne Gebhart were absent. Public Comment: none Approval of minutes: Todd recommended approval of the minutes and Michael seconded. They were approved unanimously. Eric's Report: The tee markers have been powder coated per appropriate colors and next week the ball washers will be refurbished. Eric did not go to the Seattle Golf show due to the COVID 19 issues. The Boise and Spokane golf shows this past month both had good attendance. The cost of Eric's attendance is covered by the Southwest Idaho Tourism and the McCall Chamber. There is a camera set up in the pro shop and it includes the east side of the building and the pro shop. Eric plans on buying a larger monitor for easier viewing at little expense. A speaker to the monitored areas will be set up soon. Mice and voles have been seen already around the shop. There are 36 kids on the golf team and they are hitting balls off mats. There are 5 employees working with 3 full time currently. Staff have done a lot of cleaning of the old portion of the maintenance building g and are planning to build a kitchenet in the break room and sheetrock all the original ceiling. Calvin Clark, mechanic, has finished working on all the John Deere fairway and rough mowers and will get started on the grinding of all the Toro units in March. The restaurant has shampooed the carpets recently. The past golf course superintendents, the Golf Course Architect, the Irrigation Auditor and Eric met to go over the history of changes to the course to get an idea on age of certain areas which helps with gauging life expectancy for the Master Plan. Eric estimates 2000 pounds of dog excrement will be put in receptacles by the end of the season. Alan's Report: He has put in job postings for staff. He has not decided on his retirement plans yet. Scramble and Best Ball tourneys are on a weight list now. He did mention there are changes with the World Handicap System. There is a new Director of the IGA now and is Kaleb Cox. Old Business: Entry Sign Funding discussion included sharing the cost with Eric's budget, the Men's and Lady's association and Banyons. The Annual Report of the Golf Advisory Committee will be presented to the City Council tomorrow. An update on the Master Plan was provided with a first Draft. Eric would like the Committee to review and make comments. LOT suggestions were given and discussion about having the new bathroom on the course stay in the '21 Capital plan. Suggestions for having rebuilding and refurbishment of paths as an application since the path snow removal in the winter for tourists and walkers/bikers breaks down the surface of the paths. Eric will provide the grant details for the next meeting. Topic: Election of Officers—Since there were no volunteers for President and Secretary, it was decided Rita and Todd would share the President position as Rita will be out of town for several months and Kris will continue as Secretary. Ken has indicated he will help fill in with needed positions.
