SUMMARY STATEMENT:
On May 28, 2020 the Governor called an emergency meeting with members of his staff and some Idaho
Mayors to discuss possible COVID-19 reimbursement options for Idaho cities that have police
departments/personnel. The Mayor and City Treasurer joined this meeting where the Governor outlined
some possible funding from the Cares Act to assist Cities with Public Health and Safety. At the time this
Agenda Bill was written there was not much information; however, once the parameters of the grant are
determined, Cities will have a short time frame of which to respond. The Mayor requested that this item be
placed on the agenda, giving him and the Treasurer an opportunity to share what they learned and bring
forth any new information.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Give direction to staff regarding the Cares Act funding opportunity.
