AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI,
PERTAINING TO CHARITABLE CORPORATIONS OBTAINING A BUSINESS
LICENSE.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Chapter 17 (Licenses, Taxation And Miscellaneous Business
Regulations) of the Code of the City of Jefferson is amended by the addition of a new
Section 34 (Charitable Corporations exempt if not charging a sales tax) to read as
follows:
Sec. 17 -$. Charitable Corporations exempt if not charging a sales tax.
Notwithstanding any provision to the contrary, a business registered as a 501C3 corporation with the
IRS and in good standing with the State of Missouri, which is not required to charge a sales tax, shall not be
required to have a business license to conduct business within the City, so long as the business completes and
files the application for a business license with the City of Jefferson in a timely fashion.
Section 2. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the date
of its passage and approval.
